"We found them on Angie's List and hired them to fix the pipe in the basement. They were prompt, courteous, and cheaper than we had anticipated. A week or so later, my husband was attempting to replace our kitchen faucet and we found ourselves in over our heads. He really didn't want to call a plumber for help, but I think our good experience the week prior helped me talk him into it. They were able to help fix a difficult switch out that had odd installation requirements. And again, it was cheap enough that I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again and again. Hiring a plumber is cheaper than me doing it wrong and having wood rot somewhere I can't see because I did something wrong."

"Bill and his team are good communicators, set realistic expectations, and keep the customer informed. I called 6 plumbers & excavators before finding All Drains LLC. Two others set appointments but did not show, the others just did not respond at all. Bill called within minutes of my online request, came early the next morning, explained clearly what the main sewer line problem was and what it would take to fix it. The line was 13 feet deep and about 30 feet long that needed replacing. Yes, that is a big hole. Bill had the team to do the job. It was repaired correctly, at a fair price, and with a lifetime warranty. Very happy!"

"Geoff West and his crew took on our job, which was a conversion from a septic system to a sewer system, that involved crossing an easement. The length of the sewer line from our house to the sewer main was about 500 feet. Because of having to tap into a sewer system at a specific spot as determined by Canton Township, Geoff had to work with the engineering department, plus get additional insurance that was dictated by the township. He did his best to get these done to our advantage. Geoff was in constant contact with me throughout the process. He would respond promptly to my texts and my phone calls. I have been burned by contractors in the past, and dealing with Geoff has restored a bit of my faith that there are some contractors who care about their customers. In addition, a member of Geoff's team, Rob, was also very helpful toward the end of the job when an injection pump was being installed. Rob made sure there area in which he work was kept clean as the installation of the pump required jackhammering through concrete. Also, Rob answered additional questions I had about our new sewer system. I would recommend West Water & Sewer Specialists to help you with your needs."

"I would recommend Exquisite Touch to anyone in need of plumbing services. I had some work done this past Saturday, which included a full stack replacement along with a flange and cleanout. The technicians, Ken and Dylan, arrived well-prepared from the start. There was another worker who joined the team, but I didn’t catch his name. These men were professionals, and their work was of the highest quality. They even laid down protective coverings on the carpet before they began working. They informed me about the entire project step by step and ensured that the area was cleaned up before leaving. I will definitely be using this company again in the near future. Even the receptionist who took my call was professional and knowledgeable about the services offered. Thank you to the team at Exquisite Touch: Ken, Dylan, Sara, and the other worker whose name I missed. Dawn Detroit"

"Kane and his crew were amazing. You could tell they have done this before. I just wish I would have found them on phase 1 not on the last ten feet at the street. This is the one crew everyone needs to hire when replacing sewer mains. Thanks guys."

"The two-man crew arrived in the morning, removed most of the old galvanized water piping and installed new copper piping mains and a functional bathroom by the afternoon. The remaining work was completed the next day. All demolition and trash was removed from the house. Our clean up consisted of wiping down surfaces and floors. This project went very well."

FAQs for sewer main install, replace or repair projects in Westland, MI

When installing a sewer line, you should consider extra costs like tree removal, driveway repairs, or patio resurfacing. Hiring a professional plumber is essential, and you may need additional specialists if landscaping or heavy excavation is involved. Addressing these potential extras up front helps ensure accurate budgeting and prevents sudden cost overruns.

To calculate the length of sewer piping you need, measure the distance from your house to the main sewer line, adding the depth of the city main to this distance. Be sure to account for any obstacles like tree roots or utility lines that may require additional piping.

City sewer lines are installed at a lower elevation to prevent unwanted backflow and water damage. This lower positioning ensures enhanced performance and long-term safety, meeting all technical and safety standards.

With trenchless methods, a plumber inserts a smaller pipe within the existing plumbing, avoiding full excavation. It can be more cost-effective and less disruptive than traditional methods, but it's not suitable for all homes.

Yes, you must secure permission from your local water authority before connecting to a public sewer line. This approval ensures your connection meets all regulatory requirements.

Sewer lines are buried between 18 inches and 8 feet deep, with most systems placed between 18 and 30 inches. In colder regions, pipes are set deeper to remain below the frost line.
