"Target Radon was very responsive and they worked in increments. They replaced the motor first. When that was not enough the replaced the stack. They continued working until the problem was solved."

"Mark did great work and made the radon abatement system blend well with the house. The office response time was slower than I would have liked, but the price and quality of work was worth the wait. All of the people I interfaced with were extremely helpful and nice. I would highly recommend this company."

"I received 3 quotes from 3 different company's who are certified in radon and Mason Dixon was the highest by $170.00 plus they have a gravel clause in their contract while others did not which could cause the price to go up another $500."

"The job went well overall. Magnolia's estimator and residential field supervisor, Sam Musser, is also a licensed AC system installer, and with his wealth of knowledge and experience he was able to answer all of my questions concerning the installation. Sam was also very responsive in addressing the few concerns I raised during the installation process, and his installation team was very polite, professional and diligent. This included not only Magnolia's employees, who installed new high efficiency TRANE air handler and condenser units, but also the two licensed subcontractors for the new ductwork and the electrical hook up work."

"A two-man team worked very efficiently to remove each vent cover and vacuum inside the vent openings throughout the townhouse. One man removed the vent covers while the other man vacuumed inside the vent openings. No problems with how they worked but I think there are other companies who perform a more thorough cleaning of ductwork using other methods. This company did a superficial cleaning and worked very quickly. In and out within an hour.

"Having had considerable basement issues with water I utilized the services of FloodBuster's to assist in waterproofing and correcting my problem. With a major iron ore issue we we're finally able to install a system that allowed for cleanout and maintenance and prevent the continual flooding and water damage that I had experienced. While this was a challenging process and required a few corrections Floodbuster's worked with us along the way providing quality work at times below cost corrections to ensure that my waterproofing challenges were complete. I would recommend them especially in challenging situations."

"Joe Brandli's services were recommended to us by our real estate agent, and when we met Joe, we found him friendly, honest, and knowledgeable -- and we continue to think highly of him as a person. But now that we've been living in our house for slightly more than a year, we do sometimes wish that we'd worked with a different home inspector.
To be fair, it was obvious that the house would need some fixing up, and Joe pointed out a number of things that needed to be addressed, including loose insulation in the attic, a crack on the back porch, and, most importantly, a large amount of mold inside an upstairs closet and also in the Air Handler.
However, Joe's report did not include mention the decay of the cement porch behind the house (at the time of Joe's inspection, the iron supports underneath the porch were almost entirely rusted out), or the significant damage to the basement walls caused by moisture. After we'd been in the house for a few weeks, a contractor pointed out that the lower portion of one of the basement walls was almost completely saturated with water and asked, "Didn't you have a home inspection?"
Joe missed some other details that weren't nearly as serious -- a cracked toilet, for example -- but the fact that these details didn't make it into his report reinforces our sense that he probably wasn't as careful as he should have been.

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Westminster, MD

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
