"We hired Mike to work on some of our ceilings - he removed tiled squares and put in drywall, smoothed out an old plaster ceiling and did patch work on another. We felt that he was honest, reasonable and personable! The thing we liked most about Mike was that he provided his insight, but was still willing to try the project we had in mind even though there were many unknowns. Our project did not work out as we did encounter some structural limitations - he kindly backtracked and finish off the work with clean smooth results. Lastly Mike was easy to work with, good communication and flexible scheduling! We would definitely consider him for other projects around the home."

"Great experience - installers Alex and John came out the same day I had contacted DSI for a quote - my existing door was installed pretty poorly by the previous owner and had huge gaps around the edges, but they leveled it out, fixed the door, installed the operator and all the accessories in a short amount of time and left no mess behind. All in all, a perfect experience and I would recommend DSI to anyone."

Small jobs welcome

"David was very professional throughout his service. He remodeled our laundry room by covering a cinderblock wall with drywall, inserting insolation between both; installed a plank floor, molding, and quarter round to cover a cement floor; and surrounded windows with molding, which accentuated them in an artistic way. He also added weather stripping to a front door and some molding in our kitchen. He even returned after being paid to adjust a few items. Each day, David arrived on time, answered texts in a timely fashion, and cleaned debris before leaving, He was fairly priced as well. I highly recommend hiring David."

"Computer did the "gotta send info to Microsoft" but when tried to reboot it ran through automatic repair without success. I did all the alternative without any success. He came and picked up the hard drive on Tuesday and returned it on Saturday. Fortunately he was able to "restore" without any data loss. Very happy with outcome."

". It was difficult to remove the wood shingles ,because they were put on with extra nails and staples. The workers had to do a lot of labor intensive scraping of the shingles to be removed. They worked hard for hours at a time."

"He repaired my fences, put a lock on a fence and cemented a post in. He also installed a light fixture. I had all the products.
The lock? I can still open the fence. For handyman services, he does individual jobs quickly and is personable.
People are safe with these people."

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Woolwich, ME

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
