"I had a bad incident where two boilers for a hot water baseboard heating system caught fire in the middle of the night. Fortunately, the fire was quickly put out, but two of the apartments in the building were without heat. Promptly at 7am opening, I called Falcon to get the boilers replaced. There was someone there on hand to take the call at that time and within 15 minutes Brian, the owner, had called me back. We discussed options, and after hanging up and calling me back, had located two inexpensive but good quality boilers to install. The men were on site with the boilers by 9am.
It took the two men 10 hours to install the new furnaces, a lot of hard work. They were diligent and professional, and they stayed on task to get the job done. They knew all the features required to be installed to be conformant with code. The boilers work very well. I later received independent confirmation that the boilers were good ones from Vermont Gas.
Finally, the bill, when it came, was quite reasonable for two boiler installation, especially considering the rush nature of the job.
So overall, when Falcon needed to be there, they were there with the men and equipment necessary to make the situation right. The did so with good communication an courtesy. And they did so without charging an arm and a leg for the privilege.

FAQs for gas piping projects in Milton, VT

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
