"The reason I first hire them is to look at the boiler to reconnect the pipe so I can get it tested. The plumber came and he told me he does not do that work. They lock you in with the deposit and so you use it or loose it. The work that was done was okay. To reconnect two 1.5" drain pipes for $450.00 is a lot of crap. I would not hire anyone that would ask for a deposit, for it is the games that they play. Use it and they still charge you more for the job."

"Matt was incredibly easy to work with. Punctual, fairly priced, flexible, and responsive at any time of day, we hit a homer in by hiring Matt to run gas lines to our new pool heater. Having worked with numerous plumbers over the years, Matt will be getting all of our business moving forward. HIGHLY recommend."

"Did a good job once they sent the right tech out. Was a minor miscommunication with dispatch to start but they got it corrected and the technician was great. "

"Paul from PDQ was extremely nice and wonderful to work with. He PROMPTLY called me within minutes after I submitted my request (it was 9:30 at night) and was extremely helpful in determining the problem and what to do. He had a new hot water heater ordered and it arrived on my step the next morning . He was understanding, professional and really nice (as were his men who installed it). When I called later that day with a slight problem, he quickly came right over and figured out what to do. I would definitely call him again."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Shelton, CT

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
