"OK, but left a bad feeling. Technician gave me a list of options from simple that I could do myself had I bothered to study the problem--replacing the rubber flapper--to needlessly complex that I could not see how the problem could be solved--tech proposed installing a water softener system, based on the rust-colored stains inside the tank. I explained that the toilet was old, and that the stains probably came from a time when the house was on well water. Since then, the house went onto city water and we haven't seen stains anywhere else. This explanation did not deter the tech, as he recommended a water softener system twice more before he left. (This gave me the impression that Hope encourages all its technicians to recommend the most expensive "fix" to a problem, even if it may not be useful or necessary). In any case, I chose the simple solution and it reduced but did not totally fix the problem. I have called Hope and asked them to come back. We'll see."

"The job was clean, timely, and efficient.  I was glad to find a local small business to send the work to.  I would recommend them again for sure.  My only regret is that we waited 5 years to call them!  I can't believe how much difference having a water softner makes!  
I also have to say that I had had several estimates done the year before and their cost was right in the middle or on less expensive end of all the estimates - not so cheap that you wondered about the quality of the work that would be done or the quality of the softner that would be installed, but not so expensive that you thought you were getting taken advantage of.  The price was exactly right where I was hoping it would be.

"Andrew had installed a new water softner for us back in January. He used the existing cut-off valves rather than replacing them at the time because they worked just fine. Yesterday afternoon I noticed a small leak when turning one of the valves off. I called Andy to leave a message to see if he could come by and check it out. Since it was Sunday evening I did not expect him to call me back until this morning. But he called me last night to ask a few questions about the problem and he came by this morning to assess the problem. It was a simple fix and he did not even charge me for the work. It is so hard to find contractors today who are responsive, trustworthy, conscientious, and service oriented.
