I wanted to update my front farmer's porch by replacing the original iron support columns which gave my 1950s ranch a dated look. I wanted to get a wood look column using AZEK material so it would be mostly maintenance free. Mike could not buy ready made AZEK columns in the size I needed, so he custom designed and built the columns himself. The new columns are stunning and gave my farmer's porch the classic New England look I wanted. Mike is wonderful to work with. He is very reliable, he starts and ends the job on budget and on schedule, and the quality of workmanship is excellent. I highly recommend hiring Mike for your home improvement projects.

Mike replaced all of the interior doors in my home. It was a difficult job because all of the existing door frames were not square and Mike had to keep sanding and adjusting the new doors to get them to fit and hang properly. It was supposed to be a two day job but took three due to the extra care Mike took to ensure the doors hung properly with even reveals. The new doors are beautiful, and I was very surprised at what a significant difference they made to the overall look and feel of the house.

Mike pays keen attention to every detail, and the quality of his workmanship is excellent. I had a long 1950s guest bathroom that needed updating. I insisted on keeping the original cast iron bathtub even though it was blue. Mike helped me come up with a design that both complimented the tub color, as well as broke up the long tunnel feeling of the room with beautiful wood moldings that he designed and built. Mike also did an absolutely beautiful job with the new tiling around the tub. My guest bathroom now has a very elegant and spacious feeling and it has surpassed all my expectations. Mike is now also remodeling my master bath which needed a complete gut and redesign of the space. I can't wait to see it when it is complete; I know it is going to be absolutely beautiful.

The service type/project categories are greatly simplified in comparison to the actual project. Mike and his crew completely tore down our 100 year-old two-story back porch in very bad condition and replaced it with a beautiful bi-level deck, together with replacing our bulkhead, and siding the house where the old porch was. I wish I could attach pictures, it's so gorgeous! When I first called him he came within a few days to give an estimate, and then started the project when he said he would. Mike is extremely responsive, professional, and does what he says he's going to do, on time. We highly recommend him for any project.

I was thinking recently of the times I received truly great service where I felt someone went above and beyond to make my experience great and in going back to those memories I think there were a few common denominators: just a good hearted, decent person first and foremost and one that has a big people-pleasing element to their personality and someone who has a strong worth ethic and works with pride and integrity. Mike is all these things and my experience with him was more than I could have asked for. Mike took out our old 16x16 deck that had seen better days and replaced it with a new deck that was similar in size but with new touches. I'm a very visual person and have a hard time expressing what I want in a clear manner but Mike asked all the right questions to make sure he was going to install something that was worthy of my investment and made suggestions that hadn't occurred to me in terms of functionality and safety for my daughter. We couldn't be more pleased with the finished product. The city inspector came by earlier to give the final seal of approval and couldn't believe the craftsmanship - he said he hadn't worked with Mike before but was so impressed with his skill and was thankful for the respect he showed him during the inspection process, and that he sees a lot of decks in his line of work but not many of this quality. It's one thing for a guy like me with an untrained eye to be impressed and it's another thing to have an inspector pick his jaw up off the ground and speak glowingly considering how many project he sees. I can't imagine he speaks like this very often. As happy as we are with with the final product, what l'll remember most about this project was how great Mike was towards my family. When I originally found him on this website, I almost expected this project to be one not worth his time given his past projects but he treated us like we were the most important customer he's ever had. With an increasingly active 2 year old, it was very important to us to get our yard in order this summer and a new deck was the center stone of a yard revitalization and it was very obvious how much pride Mike had in building something for us that was going to be the epicenter of our outdoor fun. He was able to replace a cellar window for us last minute after the deck was demo'd that did not push back the deck project. I jokingly said to Mike that if I posted a good review it would only make it harder for me in the future to hire him again but he is as good of a person as you'll meet and I'll be a bit bummed not to shoot the breeze with him after I get in from work. I've mentioned his name to friends and family and would enthusiastically endorse him to anyone who is looking for help with a home improvement project. My husband and I needed to find a contractor to remodel our kitchen. We spoke to many and decided on Mike. One of our best decisions ever. The qualities of his work is excellent, his work ethic is amazing and he was always reliable. We would highly recommend him, he really is a gem!

I called Mike for an emergency repair without any knowledge of his work. Other carpenters told me they would not be available for 1 to 2 weeks. Mike arrived on site within an hour to give a fair estimate and completed the job professionally within 24 hours. I could not be happier with Mike's work. He now has a client for life.

I have told all my family and friends about Michael Helbling and his coworker Kevin. I hired them to demolish and rebuild my first and second story porches. They were always professional and dependable right from the start. He completed the project in 3 weeks and did an amazing job. Far exceeding all of my expectations. He was also very kind to my 80 year old mother. She had a small plumbing issue and he helped her and did not even charge us. He is an honest hard working man.
