"Polar Bear offered a competitive quote, and what seemed a good solution for a somewhat tricky roof install for our AC. Problem is that we asked for a higher ton unit, fearing their initial recommendation would not be strong enough, but they did not follow through on that and installed a smaller unit. Lo and behold the AC does not work sufficiently for our home. They say it is because of poor duct work in our older home. That may be part of it, but the system cools worse than our old one did, before it conked out. After spending $10k on this system just a couple years ago, we just spent ANOTHER 10k for installation of supplemental AC systems (by another company) so our house can actually make it through the DC summer. Now our main floor cools great, but the upstairs, which relies on the AC system that Polar Bear installed, still struggles. I've had Polar Bear come out multiple times to see there is anything they could do to make the AC work better, and other than top up coolant, they haven't offered solutions. I'd not use them again, had more positive experience with another company that I just also reviewed here."

"Exceptional knowledge and professional experience provided by Justin Whitesides who determined that my 15 year old HVAC lost 80% of the coolant and there was corrosion around the coils. Justin inspected the 23 year old furnace and found that corrosion was forming and though it was working properly that failure could occur anytime in the future. Justin photographed all of the failed and failing parts so it was never just a matter of personal or blind opinion. Justin explained all of my options as well as comparing replacement systems with the systems that are failed which helped me make a proper and considered choice for replacing both systems with higher SEER ratings, greater efficiency, and better warranties. As a result of Justin's recommendations I chose to upgrade to a Lennox Signature Series with an 18 SEER and a variable blower, which increased the cost considerably but I learned that Lennox will provide a significant rebate that takes the sting out of the price. Furthermore, this upgrade provides greater labor, parts and materials warranties that distance it from lower cost systems thus supporting the theory of pay me now or pay me later. I won't have to deal with this problem again during my lifetime and enhance the comfort of my home both winter and summer."

"I used Sila Heating Cooling and Plumbing service a few weeks ago because my HVAC system was giving me trouble. This was during the start of the heat wave and for some reason outside unit/condenser unit stopped working. The Inside unit was still working/blowing, but the condenser did not work. I called up Sila and they were able to send someone out right away. There was a program deal, so the charge to send someone out to inspect the problem was reduced to $79.00. Tyler Brawner was the technician they send out to inspect my unit. He not only found the issue, which was a worn out capacitor that needed to be replace. He clean the unit, and checked on my inside unit to make sure it was cooling properly. Tyler was a great tech who was transparent enough too discussed and guided me through everything he was doing, and provide me with some at home maintenance tips for my system. It’s about one month now and the unit is running as normal. Everything all together cost $313.37, I will definitely use their company again, check back with them close to winter to inspect the heating portion of the system."

I found Stelios to be clear in his explanations and forthcoming with my different options, even if they'd put more work on his plate.
