Small jobs welcome

"When you hire someone you’re stuck in the spot of do you hire for cheap or do you hire for quality. Nick was quality and from the other quotes I received his prices were fair. At the time he came out and gave me a quote I think there was one person who quotes me lower, but I went with Nick because he took his time to go over options with me, he was easy to talk To and you could tell the passion he has for his work. Nick provided me with a color booklet thing which I swear had over 7,000 options but it was very helpful and beneficial to pick our colors by having them all with you. Nick was able to start within two days of the quote. Him and his team worked quickly, three and a half days for the wall, ceilings and trim of a apprx 1,700 sq ft home. With materials and labor it was about 4,600 (with every penny) Every day I came back to the house I loved how Nick and his team respected my house by cleaning up after themselves and not leaving a mess. They took all of my window rods and closest racks down and placed them back without being able to tell they were even removed in the first place. There’s so stray paint anywhere, I’ve had houses painted where there’s paint left on tops of cabinets, a little on baseboards, so forth and so on, not a issue with Nick and his team. I was just moving into the house and had a busy work schedule so I left my spare key with Nick and was able to feel comfortable by the process. I would recommend Nick to anyone and I already plan on hiring him for other paint projects. Thank you Nick."

"Wallpaper removal and painting was done professionally using plastic protective material to protect house from dust and paint. Contractor was efficient and methodical in applying the Fresco base, texture and finish coats and glaze with excellent results. Also did an excellent job manufacturing and painting the custom mirror frame to match the new bronze sink fixtures and cabinet hardware.

"These people rock!! I needed some help removing an old huge mirror, like the ones from the 80s. The technician was very polite, informative and efficient. Also hung a shelf and installed a frameless mirror."

"The painter was very professional. He taped off the trim, removed (and replaced) the wall plates, and moved and put back all the furniture - that was a big help to me.  I had bought the paint and tape, but I am sure that the company could have helped with that as well. 2 years later, the paint still looks great.

"The contractor provided a prompt competitive quote and offered reasonable solutions to a couple of wood issues. Overall the final paint work looks good, but it took a number of emails and phone calls to make it happen and there were some issues that left me disappointed. Isses: 1) Ommission on contract led to delay in getting chimney wood replaced with hardi-board. Craftsmanship not very good. 2) workers not aware of shed trim work. It took a number of calls to have them come back and finish. Contractor painted entire door brown, and had to fix with paint i had purchased. 3) Painters spilled paint in front lawn and covered spill with my garden mulch. Not knowing this was wet paint, when I mowed paint got on mower, and my shoes. Spill never fixed 4) first day only 1 worker showed and he did not make much progress. Project ran into weekend, causing me to have to wake up early and then stay at house till work finished. 5) no final walk thru with contractor, so i had to do this alone and then email and call on issue. 6) if paying by credit card, you have to drive to there store front.

"Excellent all around. The attention to detail was superb. They had to paint areas that are over three stories high and did this with little fuss or problems.  The crew was excellent to work with. Very helpful and anticipated issues and handled them with ease. Very professional.  Donna was on site several time a day and stayed on top of the project. She kept me appraised of the project with text messages and face to face meetings. At the end of each day, she walked the property and inspected the work while "policing" the area for leftover items.
All in all, after many experiences with painters over the years, these folks are the best I've ever employed.  On time, on target!

FAQs for wallcovering or wallpaper removal projects in Austin, TX

You can determine your wall type through tactile and visual tests. Start by checking the surface by inserting a thumbtack, feeling the texture, tapping to listen for a hollow sound, and examining cut edges under outlet covers. Drywall feels soft with a hollow sound, while plaster is hard and solid. These checks are especially useful in older homes where plaster is more common.

After removing wallpaper, you can dispose of small amounts in your household trash. However, if you are removing wallpaper from your entire home, you’ll need to contact a waste removal service, rent a dumpster, or arrange a special pick-up with your municipality’s waste service. Wallpaper cannot be recycled, so it is important to keep it separate from the recycling stream to comply with local waste guidelines.

It takes a professional from several hours up to a full day to remove wallpaper from a single room. The removal duration depends on the type of adhesive, the age of the wallpaper, the condition of the wall, and the number of layers present. High ceilings and additional layers increase the time required, as extra care is taken to protect the wall surface while ensuring a complete removal.

Using fabric softener with water is an option for removing wallpaper, but its effectiveness is limited and depends on the type of wallpaper being used. This low-cost method is most effective on modern, less porous wallpaper and may not yield optimal results on vintage or textured varieties. It might also affect wall surface preparation for new coverings if the residue is not completely removed. For stubborn adhesive or textured surfaces, professional solutions are recommended to ensure a thorough removal without damaging the underlying wall.
