"He explained all the parts that were needed, how an expanding pipe would be best since my mud room--where the pipe runs through--is not heated, and how the outside faucet mounting would be a bit tricky, and I couldnt be happier. I can clean my backyard, water plants, no problems at all. He also replaced my bathroom showerhead in about two minutes and I have perfect water pressure now. He was friendly, affordable, informative, and amenable. I look forward to hiring him again!

"The whole experience with this father and son team went phenomenal. The younger Vernon came out to the house to look over the work to be done and gave me a quick and very fair estimate. He really took the time to educate me on the whole process and was extremely knowledgable and patient with my many questions. The installation went very smoothly and both Vernons worked very hard to get the systems installed in a timely fashion. Once the units were installed young Vernon took the time to go over everything they had done and walk me through operation, care, and maintenance of the whole system. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone looking to repair or replace their HVAC system and will definitely be using them in the future."

"Sila was one of three companies I contacted for estimates on replacing my oil-fired systems with heat pumps. I have a boiler and two forced air furnaces, so the work would be extensive. I contacted Sila because their reviews were favorable, they sell Carrier products (which I was leaning toward), and they sell high velocity systems, which I felt might be a good option in the older part of the house where I don't have ducts. I was prepared to really go over the things that work well with ducts in the house, things that don't, and what my general asks were for the systems. The salesman was pleasant enough, but seemed completely uninterested in how I felt my current systems were and what my goals were. I asked for a price on two levels of Carrier (Performance and Inifinity) for the existing forced air systems, and then price me out for a reasonable high velocity system. The sales person who came out was pretty perfunctory and didn't take good notes while we spoke. I didn't think he was really that engaged in my concerns about the routing of high velocity ducting and placement--he just told me how it would have to be. While sometimes that's how things work, I don't think he really addressed my concerns with having all outlets in the ceiling only in the lower level, which would potentially leave me with lots of heat hanging around the ceiling. However, the larger issues were that the bids did not match the requirements for the project. First, he sent only the high velocity bid and nothing for the other systems. When i asked, he sent the other estimate, but only for the Carrier Infinity, omitting that I specifically asked for a bid on doing those systems with a Performance line that would allow me to use my existing non-communicating thermostats. In addition, their bid was the most expensive and their attention to detail seemed poor for a $40,000+ job. Spending less than an hour with me and sending lackluster boilerplate bids (with all kinds of language that should not have been in the bid, like references to other brands, etc.). A bid should be custom for the buyer and tailored for match what I'm asking for. This lack of attention to detail and customer focus lost Sila this job."

"After several repairs over a couple of years we decided to replace our 14 year old central AC system with a new heat pump system. We got quotes from 3 companies, and decided to go with B.A.R. Appliances AC LLC based on past experience, extended warranty, and very competitive costs. The entire installation was efficient and professional. I found Henry and his staff a pleasure to deal with. They left me with a nice clean system and I would highly recommend B.A.R. Appliances AC LLC for any HVAC work. It's nice to have quality work done in this day and age!"

"We needed heat, our boiler went out. I called Climate Performance Solutions and talked to Robert. We agreed on a time for him to come look at our boiler. Rob was on time, very professional and knowledgeable about boilers. Rob not only fixed the problem but saw other problem areas that he fixed as well. I would HIGHLY recommend Climate Performance Solutions. We now have heat and we are VERY satisfied with his work and costs. Do yourself a favor, forget the other fly by night operations. Climate Performance Solutions should be your first and only call. You will be a satisfied customer. We are. Thanks Rob. Great job hands down."

FAQs for boiler or radiator heating system service projects in Baltimore, MD

The way an outdoor wood furnace works is that it burns wood inside a firebox to generate heat. This heat is transferred to the air around it, which is then distributed throughout your home using a dedicated system. If the furnace is properly sized, you can also integrate it with your hot water supply for efficient heating.

Standard outdoor wood furnaces are 75% efficient on average, meaning that they convert 75% of the wood's energy into heat and waste the rest as smoke. Gasification wood furnaces are over 90% efficient because they burn the wood and the smoke particles, using less wood to produce the same amount of heat as standard models.

With proper care, an outdoor wood furnace can last between 15 and 20 years. Regular weekly cleaning, annual professional inspections, and prompt repairs can extend its lifespan up to 30 years. Proactively addressing issues early can prevent costly repairs and premature replacement. Consistent maintenance ensures efficient heating and protects your investment over the long term.

You should install your outdoor wood furnace between 30 and 500 feet from your house to meet safety and regulatory standards. This distance minimizes fire risks and ensures you comply with local building codes and insurance requirements. The ideal placement of an outdoor wood furnace or boiler balances convenience with safety, allowing for efficient heat transfer while reducing smoke exposure. Also consider wind patterns, property boundaries, and accessibility for wood delivery when choosing the optimal location for your installation.
