"I went to Home Advisor to find reputable firms to provide quotes on a new Heat Pump and its auxiliary equipment. Much to my surprise, they recommended only two firms. Since I was aware that this project would cost $3,000 or more, I decided to not limit my options to just two firms. Since the unit I would eventually purchase was replacing the builder’s grade unit that came with my new home, purchased in 2004, I contacted the firm that installed the original equipment and the firm that maintained that equipment for 13 of the 15 years. Apparently, unbeknownst to me, Home Advisor must have a pending jobs listing that other firms can check periodically in search of prospective customers, and two other firms contacted me directly requesting a chance to bid on my project and I happily accepted. The equipment being replaced was a Lennox 3 Ton 10 Seer unit. The units quoted were: Comfortmaker, 3 Ton 17.5 Seer, variable speed heat pump system Trane, 3 Ton 16 Seer, single stage heat pump system. Lennox, 3 Ton 16 Seer, single stage heat pump system. Carriage, 3 Ton 16 Seer, two stage heat pump system. Daikin VRV , 3 Ton 16 Seer, Variable stage heat pump system. Amana, 3 Ton 15 Seer, single stage heat pump system. After investigating contractor reputations and analyzing the specifications and weighing advantages/disadvantages versus price, I determined that my best option was the Daikin VRV unit. The contractor, 1st Coast Climate Control, LLC, has a first rate reputation with the BBB, Angie’s List and Home Advisor. Their representative, Ed Kitchen, is an excellent salesman and installer. He spent at least an hour pointing out all of the benefits of this particular unit. Of all the units quoted, theirs was the only heat pump that would easily fit in the confined space that my town home unit provided for installation. Unfortunately, during Ed’s presentation my wife was occupied elsewhere and when she returned home she requested that I ask him to do another presentation, he graciously came out to our home again and went through his presentation so that she would have the opportunity to learn about the new equipment and ask questions as they occurred to her. Daikin, a Japanese firm, is the World’s Largest Producer of Air Conditioning Systems. While in the military, I spent four years in Japan, and I witnessed the work ethic and dedication that workers invest for their employer. You will not find a more conscientious group of employees anywhere. Since we are one of first families in this city to have this particular unit installed, the Daikin’s Territorial Sales Manager, Fernando “Tito” Quintana, was on-site during the installation. He was very enthusiastic and assured us that his firm was invested in ensuring we are happy customers. Needless to say, the installation went smoothly, Ed and his crew worked diligently and cleaned up after themselves, leaving us with a stable and pleasantly cool environment at the end of the day. We are more than pleased with our selection, the equipment is silent and runs smoothly maintaining a consistently comfortable environment."

"The GOOD: So nice to call a company and get a person answering the phone on the first or second ring and it was a HUMAN. The BETTER: I told them it was urgent they were here in two hours. The BEST: I told them I thought it was the heating element, they picked one up from parts supply warehouse on the way got here. Told me it was NOT the heating element (save your money) call an electrician, it is the outlet. BOOM, mic drop... Further referred me to a reputable electrician who ALSO came out same day. Jason gave me a magnet business card I put on the side of our washer... DEFINITELY the ONLY appliance repair shop I will call for the foreseeable future. P.S. They do not offer discounts, but they also dont give BS and they dont charge you for things you dont need. Best Angie referral EVER!"

"Professional and punctual. It's an older unit and I was prepared to be told that the entire unit needed to be repaired. The technician was honest and provided me a break even point for repairs vs replacement and even gave a price where I would braek even over the long run. Unit was up and running at a much lower cost than I anticipated. Was very pleased with all aspects- having dealt with three other companies previously  that left me feeling ripped off.

"Williams Air was able to come out quickly to fix my system! When the air goes out in late summer, it can be the worst news. A simple phone call and Williams Air was on their way. The problem was fixed appropriately and quickly. The price was reasonable also!! Thank you so much for the professionalism! We will definitely be using Williams Air if anything goes wrong with our AC system!"

"Tech came out. Went through from obvious faults and worked way up. Ended up getting drain line flushed and then replacing the blower motor. Now AC is going better then ever. Took much longer then anticipated but only because they were trying every cause and effect. Even had owner come out and eventually found the right combo to fix. Was not charged for visit itself or diagnostic time, which was expected but still nice to have to haggle about at end of it all. Have used them since bought home a few years back and would still recommend to this day."

FAQs for boiler or radiator heating system service projects in Jacksonville, FL

The way an outdoor wood furnace works is that it burns wood inside a firebox to generate heat. This heat is transferred to the air around it, which is then distributed throughout your home using a dedicated system. If the furnace is properly sized, you can also integrate it with your hot water supply for efficient heating.

Standard outdoor wood furnaces are 75% efficient on average, meaning that they convert 75% of the wood's energy into heat and waste the rest as smoke. Gasification wood furnaces are over 90% efficient because they burn the wood and the smoke particles, using less wood to produce the same amount of heat as standard models.

With proper care, an outdoor wood furnace can last between 15 and 20 years. Regular weekly cleaning, annual professional inspections, and prompt repairs can extend its lifespan up to 30 years. Proactively addressing issues early can prevent costly repairs and premature replacement. Consistent maintenance ensures efficient heating and protects your investment over the long term.

You should install your outdoor wood furnace between 30 and 500 feet from your house to meet safety and regulatory standards. This distance minimizes fire risks and ensures you comply with local building codes and insurance requirements. The ideal placement of an outdoor wood furnace or boiler balances convenience with safety, allowing for efficient heat transfer while reducing smoke exposure. Also consider wind patterns, property boundaries, and accessibility for wood delivery when choosing the optimal location for your installation.
