"I have been a customer of Colony One Auto Repair for nearly 30 years. I have only received auto services that exceeded my expectation. I trust no one else to maintain my vehicles. Fair prices, diagnosis and repair along with a business that I can ask my non-mechanically inclined wife to take her vehicle to for service and be assured that the work performed was indicated and done correctly."

"On the day of the work (4) workers came on time and proceeded with the work. They were very professional and covered the floor and the stairs leading to the attic.  They too answered all my questions about  what they did. They showed  me the old evaporators coils and the leaks in them, and the new were still in the original box. They replaced on of my thermostats and  fixed a noise coming from my outside unit .  Although,  I had a second estimate on this work that would have been less, I went with Cucco,s because I trust their work and their professionalism. Honestly, it is so hard to fine honest people these days working with them is a pleasure.

"Excellent service, very fast response to my request for service, picked up laptop, diagnosed issues. Initially thought it was an OS update issue but the hard drive had failed along with other components (including 'CPU). Because other components were involved, a new solid state hard drive was put into a laptop with a working processor - same type CPU as in the failed unit. The laptop was repaired and returned in less than a week. This company picked up and dropped off the laptop (driving from Huntsville, AL (about 60-70 minutes)-- great service in this covid environment. I would recommend this company to my family./friends and will use again."

"Unit was not cooling when came back from vacation on a Thursday. Called Popular late afternoon that day and they were able to come out within a couple hours to diagnose the problem and charge my A/C with freon (system was frozen and super low freon) to get us through the night and weekend (going out of town the next day). I'm sure they could have had this fixed on Friday, but we were not going to be there, so I set up an appointment for Monday. The A/C worked throughout the weekend. Popular arrived first thing around 8am on Monday (on-time as they said) and replaced the coil in about 2.5hrs. They are very easy to deal with and super responsive. I am definitely going to use them for any issues going forward and will recommend them to others having A/C issues. Javier was very great to work with and offers a great customer service experience which is hard to come by these days. They also did not charge me for the original visit and freon as I replaced the coil with them. P.S. - I used another A/C repair company previously and didn't have any issues, but their price was higher than Popular."

"The service was wonderful. The employee called ahead to give arrival time, was very professional, worked hard the whole hour, and did a fantastic job cleaning all the accumulated lint from the whole dryer system."

"I actually was referred to Master Mechanical A/C by a friend who found them on Angie's List. Started using them for our residential investment properties and then our business. Have been regularly doing so for the past seven years. Mario and his team are always the first guys I call when we have a HVAC issue. We have had them perform replacements for condensers, attic furnaces, evap coils, duct work, and other smaller A/C repairs. I trust them for their professionalism and directness. Their prices are always reasonable. I wish all contractors I deal with are as reliable as Master; it'll lessen a lot of stress when having to deal with emergencies. Only downside is availability during the busy summer months; they may have to schedule out a day or two in advance. But that's fairly normal for the sought-after HVAC contractors."

"I Scheduled Alfred  to come out to do the annual preventive maintenance. on saturday, due to time constraints on my part,  we agreed that he would come out the next day sunday (- normally doesn't work on sundays).  That night the AC wnt out .  Alfred came and Cleaned, drained, and tested AC unit.  He was able to replace the Compressor Start Assembly and the Dual Run Capacitor, topped off the refrigerant, and even repaired duct transition in attic.  Alfred explained the warranty on the parts replaced and offered a credit if compressor fails and I have to replace the whole unit within time limit.  He always explains thing to me and gives me a choice to repair or replace. He never tries to "sell" me something, just tries to keep the system operating efficiently.  I know it will need to be replaced someday, and I would only have him do it.  He is always professional, friendly, and pleasant to work with.

FAQs for window a/c unit service or relocation projects in Bay City, TX

If your window air conditioner is relatively new or of high quality, repairing it can restore optimal performance and protect your investment. However, for older units or those with ongoing issues, it might be more cost-effective to replace the unit to ensure long-term efficiency and reliability. Consider the unit's age, the severity of the problem, repair costs versus replacement, and energy efficiency ratings when making your decision. If repairs cost more than half the price of a new unit, replacement is typically the better option.

Window air conditioners last eight to ten years on average. After this time, you may notice decreased efficiency and component wear. Replacing an older unit can improve energy savings and provide updated features like remote controls and better overall performance. With proper maintenance including regular filter cleaning, coil checks, and professional servicing, you can maximize your unit's lifespan.

If your portable AC isn't cooling, it might have a refrigerant leak or a circuit malfunction that's preventing it from working properly. It's best to contact a local air conditioner contractor to inspect and repair the unit. If your AC is older and repairs don't fix the issue, replacing it might be the most effective solution.

Removing a wall-mounted AC costs $55 to $75. Completing the removal yourself at the end of each summer season, being sure to do so according to proper guidelines, keeps you within this cost range. Should you require professional assistance for removal and disposal, if you can't move the unit yourself, expect an added fee of $25 to $50 to the overall cost.
