"I had an old water heater (was in the house when I moved in about 20 years ago) and it started to leak. After shutting off the water to the water heater, I did a little Angie's List research to find a company to do the replacement. I called a couple and decided to use Randy Lane, based on cost and my interaction with them, which I felt was cordial and helpful, and made an appointment.
The service person arrived on time on the day of the appointment and went to work. He disconnected the old heater and hauled it out. The new heater was brought in and he did the needed plumbing work to connect the water and also made the natural gas connections. He fired up the unit and briefed me on the new unit - how to turn-off the water and gas, if needed, temperature, etc.
The area was left in the same condition as when he arrived.

"Bob does an excellend job. We first used him several weeks ago, as we needed a new water heater. He made sure we were only w/o hot water for less than a day. He delivered a new unit and stayed late into the evening to install. We just had him out again for a toilet repair. All was taken care of in a timely manner. Will call him again if we need a plumber!"

"Very responsible, friendly and professional plumber. I called in the afternoon to set up an appointment and they were in my house around at 9.30 pm to get he job done. That's customer service. They were all done within 30 mins. A -1 Plumbmaster is going to be my #1 choice from now on. They advised me on how to avoid frozen pipes in the future. I also asked him advice regarding my other plumbing issues and he advise me honestly. Thank you very much A-1 Plumbing. I really appreciate your work. Excellent job guys."

"I wanted him to re-plumb two sinks in my house. He was prompt & pleasant. And he did an excellent job on the plumbing under my sink. My only complaints are that he needed to go back and forth to his truck numerous times as well as needing to go to Menard's to pick something up. Because of that he never started the 2nd sink. He had agreed to come back another time and complete it but he never did. Again, the work he did was very good."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Bayport, MN

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
