"Maynor has taken care of our HVAC needs for years and we are very happy with them. When our unit was in need of replacement Mike Langdon thoroughly evaluated our upstairs space to assess the type of HVAC unit we would need. They were able to install it the next day. Installers Devan and Beiri were professional, kind, prompt and efficient and kept us updated throughout the installation. Our experience with Maynor has always been 5 stars."

"I am now a fan of The Water Specialist. I am a property manager and one of my tenants complained that the grinder pump siren was continually going off. I called several places who either never called me back or couldn't come out right away. It was a weekend and I spoke with Ryan at The Water Specialist who was so incredibly helpful. We were calling/texting back and forth throughout the day and he was trying to get someone out right away to pump the well. It took a little too long for me to get a hold of the owner and I missed the opportunity so we used another vendor to pump the well. But I got an estimate to replace the grinder pump from both vendors and I was happy that The Water Specialist came in just a bit lower so we went ahead and had them replace it that week. I really wanted to give them the business since Ryan spent so much time helping me for free. He continued to stay in communication with me throughout the process and I was able to keep the owner and tenants updated and happy. I called them again today to help with another property and they were very friendly and responsive. Highly recommended!"

"The technician, Aaron Wise, was wonderful. He was prompt and professional. The communication from their office needs improvement. I was not informed of when the part was in or when the AC unit could be repaired. I had to call and check on the status of things. We were without our AC unit for over two weeks during the heat wave (July 18 - August 3, date it was repaired). Our house is a new build and the unit is still under warranty."

"Overall experience was excellent.  We noticed that the air conditioning / cooling of our old HVAC system wasn't working when we first turned it on this year.  The serviceman from Alpine determined that the refrigerant fill valve was leaking, and provided an estimate to replace the valve and the refrigerant.  Since the leak had completely drained the system (it used R-22 which costs over $100 / pound), the repair was going to cost $1500 - of an old unit.  It was recommended that we consider replacing the HVAC unit.  The salesperson we met with was thorough and knowledgeable, and presented us a range of options to consider. He did steer us away from lower quality units to several higher quality options (all made by Amana), and we elected to go with a mid-range system.  The installation was performed over 1.5 days by 2 technicians (the furnace is in the basement), and the technicians were prompt, courteous, thorough and complete. I had pretty minimal cleanup to do after they had completed the job.  System is working beautifully at the 2 month mark. I would recommend them highly for their efficient service and knowledgeable advice."

"Technician (Moe) was professional and prompt throughout the process.  Moe diagnosed the issue as part of an air conditioning maintenance appointment and returned the following week to install the new evaporator coil.  He was able to quickly and effectively replace the evaporator coil.  Moe provided clear information on the nature of the problem and also let me know that I should look into a class action lawsuit against the manufacturer of the evaporator coil (Lennox) to try to get some of the labor cost refunded.  (the part was covered under warranty)  Although there was an accidental oil spill on the porch concrete in carrying out the old coil, Moe tried various cleansers and worked hard to clean up the spill and was quick to point out the issue to me..  I appreciated his honesty and professionalism.  I would definitely use Yellow Dot again.

FAQs for swamp cooler installation and replacement projects in Benson, NC

Swamp coolers are quite energy-efficient, using only 15% to 35% of the electricity that traditional central air conditioning units consume. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills. However, keep in mind that swamp coolers require water to operate and may not cool your home as effectively in extremely hot or humid conditions. When considering overall efficiency, it is essential to weigh both electricity and water usage, as well as the cooling needs specific to your local climate.

Evaporative coolers only work in dry climates because they cool by moistening the air. If the air is already moist, this will have little to no cooling effect. Central AC is a better choice if you live in a humid climate, such as the Midwest, eastern, or western coastal regions.

To install a swamp cooler on a roof, a local HVAC specialist will first find and cut a spot free of wiring and obstructions. They’ll then install metal bracing, legs, brackets, the ceiling duct register, ductwork, power, and thermostat wires. Once installed, they’ll seal all openings, attach duct connections, and install a thermostat. Before leaving, they’ll run cool water piping to the unit and inspect all the connections.

The cost to repair your swamp cooler ranges from $50 to $600, depending on the issue, whether new parts are needed, and the chosen repair service. Depending on the type of pad your system uses, you will need to change out the pads every one to three years for proper operation. When budgeting for the cost to repair a window unit, expect to pay around $230.

The U.S. Department of Energy states that swamp coolers can cool a single room by five to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. However, this largely depends on the size and installation method of the evaporative cooler. You can only achieve these results in a dry climate, such as the American South, as it’s easier to cool rooms in humid environments with central air.

Swamp cooler water usage varies depending on the size of the unit. Smaller evaporative units may use one gallon per hour, while much larger units could use up to 15 gallons of water per hour. Most homeowners can expect their unit to use between seven and 10 gallons of water per hour of usage.
