I caulked outside along the sides of the chimney and around the top cap. This reduced, but did not stop the leaking. I thoroughly researched chimney sweeps, and recommended Sixpenny Chimney Sweeps to my customer. Sixpenny Chimney Sweeps came and examined the chimney, and returned several days later to make repairs. They were honest and professional. They replaced the chimney cap/screen at the top, and repaired a row of bricks outside. They also sprayed sealer on all the bricks outside. Post-repairs, there was no more water in the basement after inclement weather. Work was done efficiently and looked great. Their price was reasonable. I would definitely recommend them again, if another chimney-related problem arises."

"Prouty did a great job on the chimney liners and ultimately the chimney cap repair. I rated them a C on responsiveness and professionalism specifically for an issue related to finishing the chimney cap in April when the weather conditions allowed for the repair. We financed the project over a six month period. I had requested that they provide pictures of the finished work including the chimney cap. Other companies we have used in the past provide before and after pictures. However, we were told that because they had already completed the chimney cap repair, they would not return to take pictures. It wasn't until we withheld the final payment that they agreed to return and provide pictures; only to find out that the work had not been completed. They were apologetic about the error in the paperwork, but I can't help thinking if we had not withheld the final payment, we would have been unaware that the repair had not been completed. I believe I would hire them again, but would have to make sure to verify the completed work."

Thomas went out of his way to ensure we got the best looking result we could despite some hiccups on our communication on that end product. The result was very satisfactory. Pricing: Price was the best of three highly ranked Angie’s List companies and regardless, they price match. Chim Chim-Churee's expertise, practical scoping, willingness to explain the details of the project, timely communication, and excellent work took the hassle out of this project. I purchased a coupon deal through Angie’s List from this company to have my roof inspected since more than 20 years have passed since it had been replaced. The MacKays arrived promptly as stated when we made the appointment. The employees were very professional, my roof was inspected, and I was shown pictures of my roof with an explanation of its condition. Since my roof did not need to be replaced, I advised my MacKay that I would call him to replace my roof when that time came. I was very satisfied with the services provided by this company."

"Nicto had a staff of very nice and professional workers.  We never wanted to rebuild our chimney because we have see other houses that have it done and it does not match.  The chimney was so cracked from the hard winter that we were concerned about water damage if we did fix it.  Nicto did a great job of finding new bricks (ours had cracked) and matched the mortar color very well.  They finished the job on time.  I recommend using them for chimney work.  They were a referral from Bromwells - the Fireplace people in Falls Church. <br />"
