"Perfect! Doug is an expert Plumber that knows private water system. He removed the old equipment and installed the new. Everything is still working great. The work was done almost 13 years ago. We used all Top of the line Gould Equipment. I probably should call Doug to replace it again because breakdowns with the water system can leave you stranded."

"I found JDL on Angie’s List and they were rated very highly. JDL was the 4th contractor I had contacted and got a quote from. I had contact other Home Depot approved contractors who were just rude and quoted me extremely high prices for sub-par systems. Isak from JDL was extremely professional and extremely knowledgeable and recommend services based on what I needed not on what he had to sell. They showed up in time and the work was just pristine. One of the biggest reason I chose to go with JDL is their service, it was extremely easy and fun to deal with these guys. They installed a new hvac system from Carrier which works great. I would highly recommend using JDL for any HVAC needs, these guys are true professionals."

"Mr. Bost did an excellent job for me for a reasonable price. I know he obtained the best deal for me on the furnace and the air conditioning unit. He answered all my questions. He was on the job when he said he would be; he was professional and courteous. The installation went smoothly, and I have had no problem with the furnace or air conditioner since they were installed in 2008."

"Used Sila for two central AC installations and misc repair calls. Quotes for the installations were probably not the lowest available but I have been impressed with the skill and efficiency of their technicians and they have always been very responsive on any service calls. Installations were very well done and unique challenges met with intelligent strategies. I rate Sila highly and would certain use them again."

"Our office needed a replacement water heater installed. Heil was very responsive to my multiple emails and calls. We did have to pay an additional fee of $250 to expedite the replacement due to the water heater not being currently available in their personal inventory. So far, we are pleased with the replacement. The price paid was almost a third of what other companies estimated."

"Was able to inspect the hot water heater and order the parts to install the very next day. Hot water heater now works better then ever. Just wasn't sure about writing the check to the repair man and not the actual company.

"Glenoak came out to reinstall a toilet that had been leaking .  While there, they noticed a leak from the pressure tank, which needed to be replaced.  They went out for the part w/o charging us for that time or travel.  Unfortunately, the replacement part didn?t work, and ultimately they had to replace the entire toilet.  They fixed a small gas pipe leak near our furnace while there, too.

Very professional, punctual, and competent.

FAQs for swamp cooler installation and replacement projects in Brooklyn, MD

Swamp coolers are quite energy-efficient, using only 15% to 35% of the electricity that traditional central air conditioning units consume. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills. However, keep in mind that swamp coolers require water to operate and may not cool your home as effectively in extremely hot or humid conditions. When considering overall efficiency, it is essential to weigh both electricity and water usage, as well as the cooling needs specific to your local climate.

Evaporative coolers only work in dry climates because they cool by moistening the air. If the air is already moist, this will have little to no cooling effect. Central AC is a better choice if you live in a humid climate, such as the Midwest, eastern, or western coastal regions.

To install a swamp cooler on a roof, a local HVAC specialist will first find and cut a spot free of wiring and obstructions. They’ll then install metal bracing, legs, brackets, the ceiling duct register, ductwork, power, and thermostat wires. Once installed, they’ll seal all openings, attach duct connections, and install a thermostat. Before leaving, they’ll run cool water piping to the unit and inspect all the connections.

The cost to repair your swamp cooler ranges from $50 to $600, depending on the issue, whether new parts are needed, and the chosen repair service. Depending on the type of pad your system uses, you will need to change out the pads every one to three years for proper operation. When budgeting for the cost to repair a window unit, expect to pay around $230.

The U.S. Department of Energy states that swamp coolers can cool a single room by five to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. However, this largely depends on the size and installation method of the evaporative cooler. You can only achieve these results in a dry climate, such as the American South, as it’s easier to cool rooms in humid environments with central air.

Swamp cooler water usage varies depending on the size of the unit. Smaller evaporative units may use one gallon per hour, while much larger units could use up to 15 gallons of water per hour. Most homeowners can expect their unit to use between seven and 10 gallons of water per hour of usage.
