"The work was done beautifully to my fussy perception of what I was looking for. Bob came with great ideas of how to solve the many problems I had caused by damage from a long-ago fire that had been covered over. The work involved  putting in a new lintel and support for the upper bricks, removing firebrick on rear of the wall, adding a new marble hearthstone, adding and finishing  drywall over damaged brick (that was now properly supported). Installing 10' of trac pipe for the electrical unit for a Valor Windsor Chrome Arch Fireplace with fan and remote control. Black Hat also obtained any building permit needed for the work. The finished fireplace is now a show-stopper! <br />"

"The service Michael provided was very professional and thorough. I collected several estimates ahead of hiring Enzyme LIfe Sciences to remediate the existing mold in the basement. The proposals varied widely on price and method of treating the mold problem. Not only was Michael's estimate by far the least expensive but it was also by far the least intrusive in its methods. Other contractors wanted to treat the mold with chemical sprays or replace structural components of the building to replace those portions infected by mold. Enzyme LIfe Sciences proposed a natural enzyme treatment in the basement as well as the first floor living areas to eliminate the mold completely and permenantly. Michael was very thorough and professional in explaining the process and service before, during, and after the treatment. There was minimal interference with the tenants living in the apartments during and after the treatment and Michael was been back to the property multiple times thereafter to verify the mold was eradicated completely. He also provided a plan for reducing the moisture in the basement thereafter to reduce the potential regrowth of mold in the future which I was able to implement myself inexpensively and swiftly. Within a few days all of the mold growth inside the basement and the mold smell inside the apartments was eliminated. Enzyme Life Sciences warrantees their work for 5 years to guarantee the mold will not grow back during that time period following treatment - that is the same warranty time period the other contractors offered as well for their very intrusive chemical or structural remedies. "Bought a house in June 20015. Could tell there was some kind of water problem in basement but was clueless on the general subject. Picked Tim Case and his ABS Foundations company after doing the Angie's List and interview bit. The other companies wanted to waterproof the walls and had expensive solutions. Tim said, "Yes, you should be prepared for that possibility but let's start smaller and see if that works first." So he put in a better sump pump (the old one was rather corroded looking) and cover, and installed a heavy duty dehumidifier in the basement. He also put in window wells and under ground extensions on the downspouts as I didn't want the extensions on top. He wouldn't put top soil in to regrade the yard as it was going to be too late to grow grass (October) but strongly suggested I have it done the next spring by someone. His workers were all very respectful toward me, answered my questions, and did hard labor getting those window wells and extensions installed. Result: Big difference in the moisture in house on a daily basis. I no longer wondered if I had purchased a sauna. I also didn't have a huge pool of water in the crawl space during spring melt or heavy rains. I did, however, still have some water. See 2017 review for end of story."

"Our sump pump died and the basement started flooding. Utech had two guys out to our place within an hour. They replaced the pump, checked the outflow pipe into the back of the yard, and sealed/replaced piping in the basement. No extra charge beyond the quoted price for the sump pump. They could have been in and out in less than an hour, but they stayed for 3 total hours (again, no extra charge) to make sure everything was running properly. Our basement is now totally dry. We would not hesitate to call Utech again for any basement or drainage jobs. Great work."

"The basement was a mess. It has debris that was in there for decades. They did a super job. It took them longer than expected and it did not cost me an extra cent. They were wonderful and I trusted them completely. Not a hassle at all. It was on our rental property that was empty, so it was not an inconvenience to anyone. It took one email and had someone out to give an estimate. He carefully looked at everything that needed to be done. Got the estimate. They worked around my schedule. Very happy!"
