"The office called me within 10 minutes of adding my request on Angi. There were able to come out same day and fix our drain. They also provided me with free plumbing inspection of the rest of the home. Zach was very profession and easy to work with. I would use them again."

"We are new to town, so we used Angie's list to find a mechanic.  We were very satisfied with David's shop and work and plan on using them next time one of our cars needs help. <br />"

"Our tank water heater stopped working during the COVID-19 shutdown, and we decided to have it replaced with a tankless heater. Tankless Concepts responded within minutes to a voicemail left on Saturday, and a detailed quote was provided based on an extensive phone conversation and photos that I provided, including discussion of anything that could arise unexpectedly. The installers arrived on Monday, and the system was installed exactly according to plan, with the job completed in less than 5 hours. They arranged upgrade of the gas meter with Washington Gas (on the same day), removed and disposed of the old tank, arranged for utility rebates, and provided forms to apply for tax credits. The installation was done "contactless" during this pandemic. Everybody was highly responsive and professional."

"Really great work and came in more affordable than other estimate I received! I needed help with getting a gas dryer installed - specifically adding extensions to an existing gas line and the hook up. The installation company, allegedly a licensed plumber, sent by the big box appliance store not only quoted me an extremely high quote for the job but mentioned what turned out to be unnecessary work. Working with Tim Whistler Plumbing was super easy. I was able to schedule an appointment quickly. I received updates via text message leading up to the appointment. Their staff showed up on time and finished the project very quickly. I would definitely use them again if I need plumbing or gas fitting help in the future!"

"The technician was punctual and professional. However, when he removed the access panel it was nicely painted and he accidentally scratched it and did not offer to patch it. In addition, when I had the tiles in the same bathroom repaired, the handyman suggested that I should have had cutoff values installed, where the plumber neglected to suggest installing. I would have hoped for the price that the installation of the shut off values would have been included."

"Great! I got four estimates on a new gas water heater, and David's was the second lowest. Even with installation of the kitchen faucet, the total price was about $200 less than the highest priced plumbing company for water heater alone! I paid extra to have an optional pan under the water heater with PVC drain line into my sump pump - just extra "insurance" and peace of mind in case the water heater ever has a catastrophic leak, since it is next to the finished part of our basement."

"This job required plumbers who were skilled in replacing pipes embedded in concrete flooring, and through all kinds of twists and turns behind walls and ceilings in this 1930s house. They handled this well and were professional and pleasant. We were also happy that they were able to complete all of the work on schedule."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Cheltenham, MD

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
