"This company was awesome. I called them on 10/28/13 to have my furnace restarted. They informed me of their hourly rate, but stated if it was just a simple restart job they could charge me for a half hour. Most other companies I called charged for an hour minimum no matter how long they'd be there. <br /> They also made themselves available the same day, but I was stuck at work. Therefore, the service was set for the very next day, 10/29/13. They informed me they would come by after completing another job. They arrived accordingly and completed the job very quickly. I expected to pay for at least a half hour of time, but they didn't charge me a dime since the job was so quick and easy. They also provided information on converting my oil furnance to gas. <br /> These guys (Tyler and a co-worker--- can't remember his name) were very friendly and professional. A lot of companies turn me off by having bad customer service skills, but these guys were great through the whole process. I would recommend Anderson Mechanical and also use them again in the future! <br />"

"We've used Alexanders a handful of times since moving into our house in 2013.  They fixed a few leaks and replaced our well pump (after diagnosing the problem and letting us know we needed a new one).  They came back out to fix a pipe later that day and then return a third time to solve a sediment build up issue secondary to the well pump replacement.  They are affordable and trustworthy. <br />"

"Paul examined the pipes and the pump. He found that the drain was not clogged. The problem was the pump was not working at all. It should push the water up to another pipe in the basement ceiling. In my opinion, he analyzed the situation very well."

"Paul installed a sump pump system into our unimproved sump pit in our newly purchased 15 year old home. He also installed a furnace/AC condensate pump complete with a back up custom designed pan and pvc pipe draining into the sump pit to carry condensate into the sewage system instead of it running underneath our concrete slab(recommended by our home inspector). He also noticed that our furnace air intake vent was only 1 foot from the ground and that snow could block the air flow and cause our furnace to shut down. Since we travel, we decided to have him raise the pipes to avoid this potential problem. He also diagnosed and repaired two separate leaks in our upstairs shower and toilet. He came the same day to repair the leaks and was also prompt on the scheduled repairs. Paul is thoughtful, careful, Very easy to work with and reasonably priced."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Christiana, PA

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
