"I called Rescue1 based on Angie's List reviews and was not disappointed.  Il left the repair cost box blank because everyone's needs will vary, based on the job, complications, etc.  I did call two other plumbers for estimates, and Larry's estimate was extremely competitive.  Larry listened to my description of the small rust marks around and on my water heater, and agreed that it probably needed to be replaced.  I'm happy that he is tech-savvy -- the night before the repair, I thought I had a major problem, and texted him with the question.  He responded ASAP to my question -- problem solved!  He and his assistant showed up on time, used the little booties religiously, and got right to work.  He was attentive to my concerns about the placement of the drain pan and heater itself.  He even made a proactive fix to a drain pipe because he didn't like its potential for leaking. Larry answered all my questions, educated me about how to keep the water heater running well, and had a great can-do attitude.  I will definitely use Recsue1 for my future plumbing/gas work. <br />"

"The plumber arrived and looked at the setup and gave me an estimate. He had to purchase a few small pieces of pipe and requested a $100 deposit to cover the cost of the parts and to book the job. This is fine with me, I didn't expect him to buy stuff for my job without some type of security on my part. We agreed upon a time when he would return. He showed up just when he said he would and finished the job in the time frame that he had originally expected. Upon completion, I inspected the job and he showed me exactly what he had done. The job was completed at the original estimate and in the time frame we had agreed upon."

"1. I received an estimate of $17,400.00 as the bottom-line, all-in price, from Jeff, on July 31. We discussed pro and cons, and also the limitations of a generator. The recommendation was the largest Generac at 22KW. It would be at least a month before they could start and someone would come out to get a better idea of all the materials needed. At this point the idea was to bury the tank in a sloped area near the garage. 2. 9/9 James came by to scope out tank locations and what that would mean in terms of materials needed. We had very good discussions about a buried tank, which was going to be difficult in our very rocky and sloped environment, and ended up with generator and above-ground tank a pretty good distance from the house (approximately 140 feet). A good solution with less noise for us and good access for (re-) filling the tank. He promised installation beginning 9/15. From 9/15 (as promised) until 9/25 work was performed diligently by Neal, Seth, and Hayden, every day except 9/24 because the final inspection could not be done that day. One day they even worked in the rain to remove or chip away at rocks in the ditch that brings the electrical power into the house. Everyone was very response to my questions and very professional overall, with quality installation as a result. I was given a demo about how everything worked in the case of power failure, so I'd have an idea of the sequence of events and sounds that would go with that. We are completely satisfied with all aspects of this project."

"Glover provided us a quote within the week of initial contact and coached us to a new fireplace that we enjoy.  Within the next 1.5 months, they installed a new gas fireplace and replaced the outdated venting.  Installers were on-time, professional, and immaculately clean before departure.  We would hire Glover again. <br />"

"The actual repair was a little out of the plumbing line, but the drier was not drying properly and we thought their was a slight odor of gas. We have used this plumber several times starting with replacing all the leak prone pipes when we bought the house. So rather than call a appliance repair person who might have checked for a gas leak but would not have been licensed to fix a gas leak, we called Joe and asked him to do the whole job. (It probably cost us more per hour to have a plumber do the work, but at least we would only have one service call to pay.) As always Certified was prompt and efficient and we are please with the work. <br />"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Colonial Beach, VA

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
