"Ryan came out to look at the problem and gave an estimate at the beginning of July. He took pictures and sent us a formal estimate by e-mail that included a full description of possible work to be done and the pictures. He was professional and pleasant. We decided that we wanted to have the work done and let the office know, expecting something in a couple weeks. We got a call from Ryan a few days later offering to move up the schedule to the coming weekend for a small discount. We could accommodate that, so we said yes and they scheduled work for the coming Saturday morning. We expected a start time in the 8-9 range, but when no one had showed up by almost 10, we called the office. They said that the person was running late. When Nate arrived, he looked at the meter and checked for a street shut-off valve. There wasn't one, so he had to go back and pick up a pipe freezer. He came back and got to work. He was also very professional and kind enough to let our 4-year-old daughter sit outside and watch him work (and answer some random questions). The job took 1-2 hours (a good part of which was waiting for the pipe to freeze) and the results looked very good after completion. We would definitely recommend them for this kind of work to anyone."

"I think the ratings speak for themselves. Water heater went out while I was on vacation. Pipe Dreams came out to inspect and explained on phone what needed to be done. He shut it all down and drained tank. I called when I got home over a month later to schedule replacement. Not sure it was a great price; I only got one other estimate because I really wanted to have the same company who installed original, and it was still under warranty. I knew I could trust him. The other estimate was lower, but I am satisfied with my decision, His price was very close to his estimate and he was very professional. (I can't speak for the quality of a water heater that does't even last 5 years)"

"Nick gave me a very detailed line item quote and even gave me the option to do some of the manual labor myself. Nick and his team showed up promptly on the day work was scheduled and had everything knocked out in a few hours. They removed a cracked section of clay pipe and tied into it with PVC. I got the exact same job quoted by another company for $3K. After the clean out was replaced they snaked the sewer line. While one tech was cutting the clay pipe, Nick was replacing the drip leg on the water heater. Nick was very thorough in making sure there was not a gas leak after his work. I will be calling Quality Control for all my plumbing, heating, and air needs."

"I am being fair with my rating, but I wouldn?t use them again. I had some dealing with them in the past and I called them by accident this time. It was kind of okay. The guy who did the work, he was snarky and smart alecky and that?s why I gave a ?B? on professionalism. I would have done a ?C?, but I am trying to be fair and not get personal and all of that.  <br /> <br /> When I discovered they were in Carmel, I was not surprised by that guy?s attitude, but he may not live there. He did get the work done and it?s working properly, but he was very smart alecky from the beginning. It was difficult for him to get the task done and he complained about that. The other thing that I did not discover until a week was that he left a mess. From the pipe that he cut, he just threw them on the floor in my basement and left them. I don?t really like complaining about people. "

"Ralph showed up promptly and introduced himself.  He listened to my concerns and I showed him to the furnace.  Once he was finished cleaning the furnace and making sure it was ready for the winter, he shared a lot of valuable information.  He let me know exactly what type of filter I may want to use in the future and offered to provide one.  He also offered to extend a pipe from my air conditioner to my drain, as the pipe is short and water runs across the concrete floor for a few feet in my basement.  Ralph also let me know they could replace my humidifier, which I knew was not working, if I was interested.  Although I did not take him up on those changes, he was not pushy.  I appreciated him letting me know what they could do and the price of each project, while allowing me to make the final decision without pressure.  I did sign up for their service agreement.  The service agreement included the furnace tune up and will also include an air conditioning check up in the spring.  The contract will cover most service call fees, if it is needed throughout the rest of the year.  Ralph was friendly and professional. <br />"

"We suddenly did not have hot water so because we had used L.D Smith in the past we called them to replace are Hot Water Heater. Unfortunately, I did not do my research on price before they came. Their plumber showed my husband only one option and my husband gave the ok. I was shocked to find out that they had just installed a $2,273.00 hot water heater that just 10 years earlier had cost $500.00. And when I asked the plumber why it was so expensive he replied, "I can stop right now! I have to feed my family." The water heater was, of course, installed. But, I am sorry to report that I had to have them out later because of the poor soldering job the plumber did. Not only was the solder dripping down the pipe but there was a small piece of solder that was like a hook and as shape as a knife. The second plumber had to redo the solder to make it look more finished and professional. It was obvious the second plumber knew what he was doing and took pride in his work."

"We had a pipe burst back in the winter.  We had Bob come out and locate the leak.  He capped the line to the master tub that had the leak. He had multiple jobs that day due to the cold weather, and asked if we were OK with this temporary solution.  We told him we would be fine without the tub, and that we would have him come back and reconnect it later when we were ready to sell our home.  We contacted Bob earlier this month to have the lines reconnected and re-routed so the freeze wouldn't happen again.  He was great to work with.  Always on time, very curtious and great communication.  Would recommend and use again on another job! <br />"

"My gas was shut off on Friday afternoon and he was able to come on Monday, whereas others I called wouldn't be able to make it until after the holiday, at the end of the week.  I missed his call Monday morning and worried he wouldn't be able to come again, I was relieved that he still came at a later time that same day.  He worked quickly and was professional and practical.  Its nice to know that I know who to call in the event that other future plumbing issues arise. "

FAQs for gas piping projects in Crawfordsville, IN

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
