My a/c would work for a little while before it would begin making noises and blowing hot air.  I assumed the worst.  The technician did a nice job of troubleshooting my a/c and explained every step of his troubleshooting.  He gave good examples of how various internal components should be performing and at what level.  He identified that the compressor was pulling too many amps while it also had an elevated pressure level.  He identified that the compressor was getting too hot too fast.  He then proceeded to clean out the a/c coils.  The coils were very dirty and you could see dirt and particles being washed away as he directed water into the coils to remove the debris.  He removed the top of the a/c and cleaned out the internal area as well.  As he was doing this, he had me watch the amp level and the pressure level.  Sure enough, as he was cleaning out the coils, the amp level fell and the compressor pressure level fell to acceptable levels.

He could have easily told me my a/c was shot and that I needed a new a/c, and I wouldn't have known the difference -- but he didn't.  It was a pleasure having him repair my a/c and it now functions fine.

"It took several weeks after my initial call to get the job done. There was a hurricane and Seth had a leg injury which caused some delay, and he was extremely busy. I bought this deal because I wanted my tv to hang on the wall without dangling wires. I was not alerted that I needed an electrician to have already installed an outlet. Because I was not told this, I didn't have one. As a result, the wires were showing. I asked what to do to make it look better and he suggested wire wrap from Home Depot. He didn't have any with him, so I ran to the local store to get some while he was there so he would have to install it, not me. It improved the appearance, however I would have had to do that myself if I hadn't lived close to a store."

Then by 8AM the next day, we had a call from the service technician saying he was on his way to address the issue! "We called Keys Mechanical to look at our central unit which was making sick noises and obviously struggling to cool our home.  We called them based solely on the Angie's List reviews.  As anyone who has lived in the Keys for any length of time knows, just getting someone to actually show up is a feat in itself let alone someone who is competent to do the job they claim they know how to do.  My husband called, set up a time for someone to come look at the unit and then we waited to see what would happen.  Low and behold an actual AC guy showed up, a little late but he did call ahead to let us know he was running behind.  In our experience, this in itself was remarkable.  It is not unusual for contractors/workers to show up late - after all everyone is on Key West time - but it is usually that they show up as much as 2-3 hours late without the courtesy of a call, explanation or God forbid an apology.  Oftentimes they just don't bother to show up at all.  We often wonder how they keep their businesses going without doing any work.  Anyway, they showed up, performed a diagnostic, gave us the bad but not unexpected news and then proceeded to put a "bandaid" on the unit to bridge the time between getting a new unit.  Gave us an estimate, told us the cost of the day would be erased if we purchased our new unit from them.  We did check out one more source of a new central ac unit; the differance in price was amazing.  In the meantime the "bandaid" while not perfect is certainly keeping us comfortable enough to sleep at night.  We will be purchsing our new unit from them; at that time will probably write another glowing review.

"Did leave me a list of things the chimney needed, around $1000 worth. When I called another company to do the cap, I did not mention what was needed, and that installer said everything was fine. I don't know if Fireplace Doctor was extra vigilant or if they were looking for work. Overall, what I had them do was done timely and at the agreed price.

"Called Mr. Yanes due to above normal humidity in the house when running the A/C.  Originally thought moisture exiting from vents was due water collecting in the air handler pan.  Mr. Yanes confirmed that the pan was draining properly and it was clean.
This gentleman (and he truly is) was always prompt since he came to the house on more than one occasion and worked diligently to identify and resolve air leaks that were pulling hot humid air through crevices in the metal ductwork and vent gaps, and into the house.
 Very satisfied with his work.
