"Olsen has twice replaced the mortar on our patio steps. The first time work was completed in less than two hours, which seemed quick considering the amount of steps and price charged. About 12 months later the mortar began to crack and fall out again. Olsen completed the second repair as part of their warranty on work completed. Update: Fast forward another year, and the mortar is cracking and falling out again. Upon further investigation it was determined the problem was with the original installation of steps five years earlier by builder. Given that the original cracking started to appear two years after installation by builder, Olsen should have known this was not a normal tuckpointing job since that is their business and expertise, especially when they had to come out and redo their work under a warranty guarantee. Ultimately had to have stones removed completely and installed again with different mortar and adhesive. Olsen did not do this work as their bid was 25% more than other bid I received. I would potentially hire Olsen again, but would do my own due diligence on the potential project and not rely on Olsen for figuring things out."

The gas log set he recommended looks beautiful in our home and matches our decor perfectly. We LOVE it. He also painted the inside of our fireplace black, which looks amazing! No more sooty walls! His assistant installed a high-quality chimney cap with a lifetime warranty. We are very happy to have that taken care of to guard against rodents, etc., getting in the house through the chimney. Although the assistant threw the old chimney cap in the yard and left it there, we are overall extremely pleased with A1 Chimney. "Good. It took some back and forth to get the contract language the way I wanted it, but after that all went well. Alex is very responsive and professional. The masons did good work. They were not shy about replacing spalled common bricks. They grinded the old mortar to the depth as stated in contract. No shortcuts were taken. It was obvious these masons took pride in their work. Something that is getting rarer these days. I pointed out some smeared mortar on bricks and they cleaned it up right away. New bricks and mortar match the old well. They cleaned up after themselves. This is not a bargain handyman cash job. You see lots of shoddy tuckpointing in my neighborhood and it's sad. The fast cash guys don't grind the mortar down enough and the new mortar falls off after a few years. You'll pay more at AAA-1 but you get what you pay for. Masonry is an art and AAA-1 demonstrates that."
