"After first advising me to contact BGE to confirm that it was not the outside gas pressure regulator located before the meter (BGE's responsibility), I got an appointment for the next day. Derrick arrived when scheduled, and did a great job replacing the inside gas pressure regulator on the manifold. The cost was very reasonable and I would definitely hire Wallace Plumbing and Derrick again."

"Charged $395 to install a refrigerator water line and remove an old saddle valve. We were getting low pressure from our existing fridge line, so I called to have the line and saddle valve replaced. Saddle valves are prohibited in the 2015 International Plumbing Code [Article 605.9] (adopted by Maryland), so I asked to have the existing one cut out and replaced with copper, then install a new ball valve on an existing copper line that is already closer to the the fridge anyway. Unfortunately Akeem either didn't hear or didn't understand the instructions properly, because after removing the old saddle valve he just put another one back in. I'm not sure why he even has them in his truck to be honest, since their use has been prohibited for several years. Anyway, after explaining again what I had been expecting he took it out and put in a ball valve. The finished work was of good quality. However given the misunderstanding about the job requested, apparent lack of knowledge concerning the Plumbing Code, and what I feel was a very high price for what amounted to about an hour's labor and maybe $25 in parts, I can't say I would use this plumber again."

"I had previously taken the truck to a Nissan dealer to have the check engine light diagnosed.  After they pulled the codes they seemed to have no idea what the issue was and wanted to charge me a second time for further diagnosis.  I just had some cracked belts replaced there and decided to have the major work done elsewhere.  Cox was able to easily determine that the knock sensor was bad and also found the cracked gas tank to be the source of the "evap gross leak".  The "random misfire" code was resolved by replacing the spark plugs and wires.  Some of the other work that was done was either suggested based on the mileage, or made sense to do at the same time other parts were replaced.  The staff was really friendly, knowledgeable and professional.  there was no pressure to do additional work and they called to update us on the diagnosis before the work was performed.  They use the manufacturer recommended parts (ie. platinum plugs in my case).  Some of the parts I needed had to be ordered from the dealer and Cox recognized that 2 of the parts recieved were incorrect for my vehicle before they were installed.  All in all I am thrilled to find a company that treats me the way they would want to be treated (thats their motto by the way)."

"Our tank water heater stopped working during the COVID-19 shutdown, and we decided to have it replaced with a tankless heater. Tankless Concepts responded within minutes to a voicemail left on Saturday, and a detailed quote was provided based on an extensive phone conversation and photos that I provided, including discussion of anything that could arise unexpectedly. The installers arrived on Monday, and the system was installed exactly according to plan, with the job completed in less than 5 hours. They arranged upgrade of the gas meter with Washington Gas (on the same day), removed and disposed of the old tank, arranged for utility rebates, and provided forms to apply for tax credits. The installation was done "contactless" during this pandemic. Everybody was highly responsive and professional."

"We were the first appointment and they came right on time.  He showed me what they planned to do.   The work took about 3 hours.   He also capped off the old pipe so it could not leak again.  They were responsive and professional. <br />"

"My quarterly water bills had been very high for several quarters.  I called the water utility company (City of Rockville) twice and they could not diagnose the issue, they simply told me that the water meter was working correctly since it was just installed in 2009 and lasts for 25 years.  I even paid the utility $20 to check the meter again, and all they did was drive by and do a remote reading without leaving their truck.  So they were useless. <br /> David came on time just as my family was leaving the house for the day.  He opened up the water meter pit cover in my front yard (something I could have done had I known how easy it was to open) and took a reading.  Later in the day, still with no one home and no water being used (and none leaking in the house) he came back and checked the meter again.  A lot of water had flowed through the meter during that time, so he explained to me that I had an underground water leak.   <br /> He explained that we needed to contact the utility company so they could check things and they could give me permission to repair the leak in the water service line to my house.  (Homeowners are responsible for replacing the water line under their property if the meter is located out near the sidewalk.)  David handled contacting the utility company for me and was very responsive to my questions and calls.  He is a one man plumbing business, so he takes true ownership over ensuring his customers are satisfied.  He always returned my calls, usually in the evening.   <br /> David offered the lowest price for replacing my water line, but I chose to use another company.  Looking back, I think David would have done just as good a job on the water line replacement.  David will be my go-to plumber from now on for any other major plumbing repairs. <br />"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Glenn Dale, MD

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
