"We recently had new wood floors installed in our home, and the entire process was smooth and stress-free. The team was punctual, professional, and paid close attention to detail from start to finish. They helped us choose the right type of wood, completed the installation on schedule, and the craftsmanship is excellent. The floors look beautiful and completely transformed the space. We?re very happy with the results and would definitely recommend them to others."

"Ricardo did a wonderful job of preparation and completion in getting rid of old slab and pouring new patio. Also filled in cutout in previously poured concrete area. Very professional, and Ricardo is very personable and willing to go above and beyond in making your dreams come true when it comes to concrete."

"Things seem to be going fine during installation until the work began in the kitchen. The installers moved the refrigerator to do the flooring. Upon doing this, the installer broke/damaged the water line running from the refrigerator to the water valve in the wall. Totally unaware of this damage, the installer applied a thick silicone around the entire area where the valve was broken (I'm assuming to hide what he had done) and then he put a pair of pliers on the line to clamp it and cut off water flow. My mother's refrigerator was left pulled out with this clamp and silicone applied and told they would come back out to fix this. The installers NEVER showed. My mother called to inform Floors for Living what had happened. She was told someone would be sent out to look at it. No one ever showed. My mother tried to contact Floors for Living again and reached a stone wall. No one will take her calls. She is leaving messages and no one will return her calls. It's been over a month now and still no contact from Floors for Living. I am very disappointed with the lack of professionalism displayed. I feel my mother was taken advantage of as an elderly and with her having paid for the services in full, they have her money and are gone. She has been left with the responsibility of replacing her refrigerator (a KithchenAid side-by-side) out of her own pocket, and to date, no one has still reached back out to my mother regarding the damage or restitution regarding the damages. Now that my mother has purchased a new refrigerator (that she had to pay for) we are still having issues. The appliance installer could not get the refrigerator leveled to go back in it original location. We pulled out a leveler to only find that the entire section of that floor is warped and leaning. Floors for Living DID NOT level the floor before installation. Now we are having to rig the refrigerator installation by putting a board under it to get it to sit level in that space on the floor. Just awful and another reminder of the poor quality of work Floors for Living did for my mother at her home. She's now out of $3700 for the floor/carpet installation plus $200 she spent to get an appliance company to come out and diagnose how and what was broken on the refrigerator and then another $1800 she had to spend to replace the refrigerator that was damaged."

"We are very happy with the whole process of designing our landscaping, the installation and the follow up. Jon drew great designs for us, worked with us to stay in our budget, talked about plants, substitutions and the best ones for the outcome we wanted. We have designed, updated and had landscaping installed a number of times so we know a little about plants and what works and doesn’t for Houston’s climate. We also knew what we wanted to see as an outcome, including landscape lighting. Jon and his crew do very good work and Jon is onsite quite a bit during the whole process, and very flexible in making changes on the fly and adapting and being practical in solutions to get the desired outcome. He and his crew are dependable, show up when he says they will, and he is very responsive and communicative! We will continue to use Jon/JB Landscape and highly recommend him!"

"Technician looked at control pressed the liter button and the burner lite. He then wiped his hand over one of the side vents and said that could have been the problem...did not vacuum off the vents. Nothing wrong with control valve. Charged me $150 for lilting the heater. When I questioned the charge, he said that was a discounted charge. Never gave me an estimate for what the work cost...because nothing was wrong with heater. Talked with their manager and got the story about how much it cost to run the business. They offered to take $25 off bill. Their service assessment is $49...would have considered that to have been fair because that's all he really did. Have done business in the with A-Better Plumbing for home and rental property and charges were fair. Understand they have new owners. Senior taken advantage of..."

FAQs for outdoor kitchen building service projects in Highlands, TX

Building your own pizza oven can be a cost-effective option if you already possess the necessary firebricks or materials and have the skills to complete the project. When you have the required supplies on hand, you save on material costs and labor fees. However, if you need to source every component, a pre-made kit may not deliver the same savings.

Fire bricks are engineered to withstand the high temperatures generated inside a pizza oven, protecting the structure from cracking or spalling. Standard bricks can fail under intense heat, potentially damaging the oven and creating safety risks. By using true fire-rated bricks, homeowners maintain consistent cooking temperatures, preserve the oven’s structural integrity, and reduce the likelihood of costly repairs. The modest increase in material cost is offset by longer service life and safer operation.

An optimal pizza oven installation positions the opening exactly between 36 and 48 inches above the ground to guarantee clear visibility and safe, comfortable access. This height optimizes heat distribution and ergonomic use. In addition, dome height can vary: shorter domes produce the signature soft, charred crust of Neapolitan pies, whereas taller domes are ideal for generating the robust baking environment required for New York–style pizzas.
