"This company was very responsive and professional. I called needing an emergency installation of an electrical line and box for a gas cooktop so that the cooktop could be connected. This was on a Tuesday evening and the line and box were installed the next morning. Matt Wehrie called to confirm the time of arrival that morning which was met. The charges for this service were quite reasonable. The installers were pleasant and professional. I would use this company any time that I have need of an electrician.

"I wanted to replace 3 old toilets (3.5 gal/flush) with the newer 1.28 gal/flush. Angie's had a deal with The Drain Doctor: $99 for installation of one member-provided toilet. This meant removing the old toilet (100 lbs) and moving it to another location, e.g., end of driveway. The deal also included a new water supply line and a wax ring. I bought 3 new toilets from Home Depot and paid Angie for 3 installations. Tommy, the owner, came on time and completed the 3 toilet installations in about 2 hours. He cleaned up the work areas when he was done. Tommy was very nice, knowledgeable, and professional. He made sure there were no leaks. Note that I am 70 yrs old and the 3 old toilets and 3 new toilets are each around 100 lbs. Two of the toilets were on the second floor. It was worth the reasonable cost that Tommy charged to save my back (and also my wife's). Tommy was great and I would call him again."

"THEY WERE THERE VERY SHORTLY AFTER I CALLED FOR SERVICE. THEY NARROWED DOWN THE LOCATION OF THE LEAK AS BEING UNDER THE CONCRETE FLOOR IN A LARGE DETACHED GARAGE AWAY FROM THE HOUSE WHICH ARE BOTH ON THE SAME METER. THEY ADVISED ME TO CALL LEAK DETECTOR IN COLUMBUS TO ZERO IN ON THE PRECISE LOCATION AND TO CALL THEM BACK AFTER THAT IS DOWN SO THEY CAN DO THE REPAIR"

"I called Dublin Plumbing, LLC about a leaky shower faucet.  It was leaking hot water.
The plumber was on time, a little early actually, and friendly.  He quickly determined what the problem was and made the repair to the hot water knob by replacing a rubber ring.   He made the same repair to the cold water side of the faucet so that I wouldn't have to call them back to repair the other side.
The plumber didn't seem rushed and he answered all of my questions.   Overall, I was very happy with the service and I will probably use this company again in the future.

"First I had a bathroom issue from a water problem.  Gary's estimate made the most sense to me and he took extra time to explain what needed to be done.  I had an idea of what I wanted and he took it from there.  We needed to reroute the plumbing to an inside wall. He explained it all to me in a way I understood and did a great job! He also installed the new dry wall ceiling in the bathroom below.  I managed to segue him into the kitchen! My 1965 kitchen was in dire need of a makeover.  He turned it into a 2014 kitchen.  The first day demo was so quick and efficient, I was in shock!  I told Gary what I wanted and he helped me make decisions along the way. I had no experience with new construction and had no idea what to expect. Gary showed me my options and explained how he was going to make my decisions happen.  He built the countertop himself including trim, installed a LOT of cabinets, installed appliances (rerouted plumbing for the refrigerator), rerouted electrical to move old wiring and lighting placement with new placement and lighting fixtures. He worked the plumbing for a new disposal and replaced all the outlets and switches.  He installed all the flooring and was VERY knowledgeable in helping me pick the flooring for my needs. He has great taste in colors too. :-)  I asked his advice on different issues and he was more than willing to help me.  He was patient and understanding.  So in all, Gary can and did do it all.
My kitchen looks incredible!  He was super nice to my dog Jim who I think will miss him more than I will. :-) I have many other jobs in this house and will call Gary first. He is my "go to" guy and look forward to working with him in the future.

"Water was leaking onto our basement floor from a spot that appeared to be behind the foundation. We called Rooter Works in the morning and Alex arrived a few hours later. He determined that the main water line entering our house had a leak. He arranged everything needed to complete the repair, including the excavating company and scheduling the City of Columbus to approve the repair when it was completed. A couple days later, on a Friday afternoon, Brian with Discount Drains arrived with his back hoe and very carefully dug the hole needed to access the faulty water line. Alex and Brian repaired the line and answered all my questions. Our water to the house had to be turned off during the repair, but it was only off for a couple of hours. Later that day, after Alex and Brian had left, I discovered a dripping coming from one of the other water valves that was not part of the original repair. I texted Alex a photo of the dripping valve and he knew immediately what needed to be done. By then it was late Friday afternoon, but Alex went the extra mile and convinced a parts supply store to stay open long enough for him to get the part he needed to repair the valve. He would not leave until he was sure there were no drips. The following Monday the city inspector arrived to approve the repair and Brian filled in the hole. Later in the day, I saw dripping coming from the main water valve. Again, I texted Alex a photo of the dripping valve. He arrived back at our house in less than an hour and repaired the problem in about 15 minutes. Everything was bone dry after that and continues to be that way. Alex is the best, that's just all there is to it. Any more plumbing problems....I'm calling him. Even with the outstanding customer service, the repair was very reasonable. I would recommend Rooter Works to anyone. Superior in every way."

"JD painting came to the house and provided a quick turnaround for a quote. The quote seemed very high however due to my limited timeframe to complete work I accepted the quote. They stated due to my timeline they'd be at the house from 7-7 everyday to get it done. Most days their hours were from 8:30-5:30 and of course they finished the job 2 days later than quoted. Their painting quality of work was great and if only grading on that it would receive an A, however cost, timeliness of completion and cleanliness of "finished" job site was awful. Finally, when wanting to discuss a couple of concerns about the finished product the owner was no where to be found and wouldn't return calls. If you do go with JD Painting do not pay in full until satisfied. Once I gave final check the site was left as is. Cups everywhere, hardware left off or poorly installed, etc. I would not recommend to a friend."

"Randy and the electricians were always on time each day and worked around our busy schedule. They cleaned up at the end of each day. Tom Scherer (owner) was not satisfied with the work until it was practically perfect and knew we were happy. As one of thier first customers, we took a chance with this newer franchise of Case Handyman & Remodeling but highly recommend them and will hire them again in the future."

FAQs for water main install, replace or repair projects in Howard, OH

If you notice puddles or standing water in your yard, a sudden drop in water pressure, cracks forming in your foundation, frequent clogs in your plumbing fixtures, or water that looks or smells unusual, you might have a leak in your main water line. These signs mean it's time to call a professional to evaluate the issue and prevent further damage.

A professional water main inspection is a comprehensive evaluation performed by a licensed plumber who checks every section of your plumbing system. The inspection costs $165 and uses advanced diagnostic techniques to identify hidden leaks or wear. This service clarifies the exact condition of your water main, enabling precise repairs that prevent future damage and ensure the overall health of your plumbing system.

Protect your water main by scheduling a cleaning and inspection every two to five years. The average cost of a sewer line cleaning is $400. It’s also important to never dig in your yard without first calling the dig line (811) to ensure you don't accidentally hit the water or sewer lines. Watch for soil erosion, low water pressure, or wet spots in your yard, and take immediate action if you suspect a leak. Remember, the longer you leave it, the worse the problem gets and the more costly it is to fix.

When properly maintained, your water main is engineered to remain functional for 50 years or longer. A durable water service in excellent condition should consistently perform without major issues for half a century. In contrast, metal pipes exposed to acidic soil corrode faster, whereas modern plastic pipes resist corrosion and function for decades beyond metal alternatives. Regular maintenance and inspections are essential for confirming your system’s longevity.

No, homeowners insurance does not cover the cost to repair a water main. Insurers fund only sudden, unforeseen events like a burst pipe and exclude gradual issues or normal wear and tear. Damage resulting from leaks, such as mold remediation or property claims, is not covered. It is essential to contact your insurance provider immediately to confirm your policy’s details and any potential adjustments needed.
