"Called them and discussed problem. They quoted price and scheduled appointment. Day of appointment they came, they installed new water softener, they left. The only item(s) left behind was new water softener, not a bit of trash can be found. The installers appeared knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. Have used this company previously."

It went well.   I imagine there was no way of knowing that the initial repair on the spigot would not last.  They knew I was on a limited budget so they were trying to save me money by making a repair rather than a replacement. 

When they returned to repair the still leaking handle, they managed to use the spigot handle from another unused water pump unit to replace the whole handle mechanism and that did the trick and there has been no leaking since then.     

I am a single woman with little or no mechanical knowledge or expertise, so I always have the fear that a workman may take advantage of that, but I got the feeling that Barr Plumbing were honest and would not try to suggest unnecessary or costly repairs.  

They came out last year to install a well pump tank(?) in my basement and did an excellent job and also added an extra faucet in the basement to give me an outside water supply - something I didn't ask for but was very pleased that they did, and there was no extra charge for this add on.

"The proprietor said he could not do the water heater flush because my water heater has a plastic valve. He installed the garbage disposal and faucet in the kitchen. During the installation, he said I needed to have two valves replaced at $100 each. This is the part where I am unsure if the price was a bit steep since I haven't had much plumbing work done. I gave a lower score for punctuality because the scheduler gave me a 9-1 window and the service provider had it on his schedule for 1045-245, so I effectively waited from 9-3.
