"Jason and his crew did an excellent job. They were very careful not to harm the landscape around the patio they built. One aspect of the company I find truly unique is that they don’t cash your deposit check until they are close to starting your project. I find most contractors take your deposit check and head straight to the bank so that can use your money to cover costs on their current job. We knew our project was not going to start for 45 to 60 days and our check wasn’t cashed until several days before materials and workers starting appearing on site. With so many horror stories about contractors mishandling funds, it was a pleasant surprise to work with a contractor who did great work and is so financially responsible."

"Project went very well and the team worked quickly. Everything that I wanted was accomplished. The only issue is a crack that has developed on the back patio. This is due to the existing patio being poured over and not cut out due to being monolithic with the house foundation. The difference is how the concrete was married together is the reason for the crack and not the fault of work. Reason for 4 star is some property was damaged by operator of a skid steer. Parts were paid for by contractor but operator could have been more careful to avoid the issue altogether. Highly recommend."

"We have lived on Daniel Island, SC for over seven years and in that time, we have hired dozens of contractors for various projects and maintenance tasks. With a few exceptions our experiences have been generally positive but John Syrjala Jr. is far and away the best contractor we have ever worked with. The primary project was to replace a wooden staircase with a brick one. I was expecting that building a brick staircase would be significantly more expensive than a wood replacement but Mr. Syrjala’s bid was actually less than some of the wood-based bids. Without reservation I can say that Mr. Syrjala’s prices are very reasonable! Mr. Syrjala is an amazing, professional mason who works carefully and takes no shortcuts. The demolition of the old staircase was accomplished quickly, there was no mess and he carted away all the old material. He then dug and poured a cement footing, despite it being a relatively small area he used enough rebar to support a major structure. He found brick that was a perfect match to our 12-year-old home and did a beautiful job of building the stairs. During the two weeks he worked at our home there was never a time that there was any mess and he left the area around the project site looking better than before he started. The stairs look great! We also had Mr. Syrjala complete a hardscape project for us and construct some foundation piers, this work was done to the same high standards and at very reasonable cost. We recommend Mr. Syrjala without reservation, and are confident that you would have an equally positive experience."

His knowledge was excellent in helping us make a few changes to landscape designs and pick outdoor lighting for the beds and entry area. It allowed me to save on roofing and foundation, but created certain logistical difficulties in the project. Mike and his crew have creatively addressed all the issues which allowed me to maximize the living area while still being compliant with all the building codes. Work on the project was well planned and performed according to the schedule. In fact it took longer to wait for building permit from the county than the project itself. I also wanted to point out that Mike possesses a rare quality for contractor, he is very punctual and responsive. He had returned all my calls/e-mails within a day and had addressed all my concerns or requests in a timely manner.
