"Another plumber had recommended replacing the boiler for an estimated material and labor cost of over $7000.
Tony (the lead man at Universal Plumbing) inspected the boiler unit and instead recommended a thorough cleaning and replacement of one or two zone valves.
The work team arrived as scheduled, performed the cleaning, zone valve replacement, water heater draining and radiant heating system purge. The workers were very professional, explaining what they were doing, answering all my questions. They left the mechanical room clean and neat, their work appears very professional. They also installed a 4-zone monitoring device (for the zone valves) that makes it easy to keep track of which zones are calling for hot water and which ones are getting it.
The work included purging the air from the radiant heating system. This caused the slab to cool down. External temperatures were below freezing, and the radiant heating system seemed to be regaining heat inconsistently across zones. Tony and his crew returned several times to purge the system a second time, adjust the thermostats, take temperature readings on floor surfaces, and in general, stick with us until everything was running correctly.
For me, trust is key. When I pay a contractor, I need to trust that he will stay on task until it is right. Tony and his crew earned my trust on this job and I will use Universal Plumbing again to move gas and water lines as part of a major kitchen renovation. The fact that Universal found boiler replacement unnecessary saved me thousands.

"It went extremely well!  The response from the Newmans at Controlled Comfort was outstanding and they schedule our service exactly in the time frame we had requested.  In fact, I received a call from Lisa to ask if I would like to take the appointment which was cancelled an hour earlier than originally scheduled.  My husband was amazed at the quality and the professionalism shown by Mr. Newman and his helper.  The quickly were up on the roof and working on our unit.  All the work listed in the Big Deal was performed which included cleaning, oiling and water line hook up.  However, having just moved into our home a few months ago, there were a few items that needed help.  We did not have a water line hooked up and our pads were in dire need of replacement.  Mr. Newman provided the water hose, hooked up the unit to the line and replace the pads.  He worked on the unit for approx one hour and now our home is no longer a sauna!  We paid slightly more than the Big Deal and not because Controlled Comfort requested but because we also asked Mr. Newman to do extra and he supplied additional parts and labor.  The total we paid was well worth it and we will, definitely, use Controlled Comfort for our yearly maintenance concerns.  Thank you!

"Hugo Flores arrived during the time-frame given to us (the early end!), and was very professional and knowledgeable. He found the problem right away, gave us a quote, and proceeded to replace the defective parts. We had a different company work on it in November, so when making the appointment I gave TLC all the information on our hot water heater, and part that was replaced then. "GREAT! Tim, our technician, called 20 minutes before arrival to let us know he was on his way. He quickly diagnosed the problem and had the unit cooling in about 1 hour. The unit quit cooling about an hour later. We called the company at *:00 pm. Their answering service got the person on duty back to us within 10 minutes. Tim told me how to reset the AC unit over the phone to get us thru the night. He was out at 7:00 the next morning. He re-checked the entire unit and explained 2 further issues that he corrected. The unit has worked fine since then. I can not say enough good things about our Technician, Tim. Fantastic customer service. Explained issues in detail and possible remedies. Tim was a real pleasure to work with in these days of poor customer service."
