"I find it hard to express my appreciation for the sales and service I received from Tim, the owner, and his two service/install guys, Wally and Ed. Let's just call this review the "no problem guy review!"
On Sunday May 17, one of the compressor coils on an AC unit in my building blew up spewing oil all over the place. I called my regular service people (NOT TDH), whom I'd been using faithfully for the past 8 years, to schedule a replacement for Monday. Long story short, I got majorly jerked around by the old company on pricing and scheduling a repair. If you look at other highly rated AC and Heat guys on Angie's, you'll see my scathing review for said company.
Meanwhile, I looked through Angie's List for a highly rated competitor. I found TDH Mechanical and gave them a call. Tim, the owner, answered the phone. I explained my situation and exasperation. Tim listened very carefully to my situation and concerns and was the "no problem" guy.  If there is one thing I've learned over the years, good service people are good listeners; so important. He offered me a couple of solutions at a far more competitive price, on a better product with double the warranty his competitor was offering! He asked me to text him photos of the equipment they would be replacing, then called me back to tell me he advised against going with a larger unit because it wouldn't be able to vent properly. We agreed on the unit and scheduled replacement the following day. By all means, I want to express that being able to get the service done was incredibly important for me because of my work and travel schedule.
Ed and Wally showed up the following day at the scheduled time, removed the old unit, installed the new unit but more importantly to me, showed me that the routine maintenance that was being done, wasn't being done as completely as it should have been. They did what I consider to be a very clean installation job. By clean I mean the tin was bent correctly, the plenum was attached nicely, a drop cloth was put down on the floor to protect it, they vacuumed up after themselves. They were incredibly professional and polite and when the job was done made sure I understood how to register for the free warranty extension, showed me all the work they had done, and most importantly, they asked me if I had any questions or concerns AND if I was happy with the work they had performed.
Through businesses I own, I've dealt with a LOT of mechanical contractors over the years, there are some who are great all the time, there are some who are great some of the time, and there are some who are great, grow too large and end up being awful. I really hope TDH can be great all the time, like they were this first time.

"We had an issue with our washing machine not draining properly. We called Nick from Park Ridge Appliance Service, and after leaving a message he returned our phone call within a matter of minutes. Not only did he replace the pump, but he also showed us how clogged our dryer vent was and suggested we have that cleaned, as well as replace our exterior dryer vent as it was not up to code. We felt all things Nick pointed out were legit and should be repaired/replaced immediately, and the price he quoted seemed in line with what we had researched. Nick was professional, kind, and knowledgeable about all components of the work performed. "I'd not used Veteran Cleaning Services before and wanted to get some answers about the dryer vent cleaning they offered.  My dryer is on the third floor and the vent terminates on the 5th floor.  I wanted to know if they would service a dryer that was not on the ground floor.  I emailed them via the Angie's List website.  They did not respond.  I emailed again a few days later and still no response.  Then I tried calling their office and left a message.  No response.  I called the office again and also their mobile number.  A few days later, we were able to connect.
They answered my questions about cleaning the dryer vent in my townhouse so I purchased a Big Deal for $100.  We agreed to a date and time.  Some days later I had to reschedule.  I called and the service was changed to a new date and time.
The day of service, Veteran Cleaning Services were a no show.  I contacted them and was told they had forgotten to note the new service date on their schedule due to problems with their phone system.   We scheduled for another day and they came as promised.
Service was carried out promptly with no issues.  The service tech suggested changing the cap on the vent because lint was being trapped by the cap and then falling back down the vent pipe.  He suggested removing the cap and replacing it with an elbow so lint can fly out the vent.  Other companies had never suggested doing that and I was pleasantly surprised by the suggestion as he was correct that the cap on the vent was not appropriate.
I was promised a receipt via email, which I have not received.  After the tech left, I found the dryer and washer were dirty with lint particulates and the laundry room floor had pieces of lint.  There were also a few pieces of lint on the stairs between the third and fifth floors.  Some lint is bound to escape notice but more of it should have been cleaned up.
Overall I was pleased with their service and would use them again.  I suggest their company work on being more responsive when customers call or email, and also, they should try to clean up as much lint as possible before leaving a customer's home.
