"My 32 year old air conditioner died on me just before a major heat wave. I called Sal's and they had a representative out that morning to discuss replacement options. Jim was very helpful and knowledgeable and helped me choose an air conditioning unit and discussed payment options. I was told that they were scheduling 3 weeks out but I could get it installed that evening for $500 more. Considering I already called off from work for that day, the upcoming heatwave and the payment options, I decided to have it installed that evening. Two installers arrived after their regular day shift around 6-6:30 pm and got to work immediately. They kept me informed and were very pleasant. They were done with the job and out the door by 11:30 pm. It was exceptional service from beginning to end!"

FAQs for window a/c unit service or relocation projects in Louisville, OH

If your window air conditioner is relatively new or of high quality, repairing it can restore optimal performance and protect your investment. However, for older units or those with ongoing issues, it might be more cost-effective to replace the unit to ensure long-term efficiency and reliability. Consider the unit's age, the severity of the problem, repair costs versus replacement, and energy efficiency ratings when making your decision. If repairs cost more than half the price of a new unit, replacement is typically the better option.

Window air conditioners last eight to ten years on average. After this time, you may notice decreased efficiency and component wear. Replacing an older unit can improve energy savings and provide updated features like remote controls and better overall performance. With proper maintenance including regular filter cleaning, coil checks, and professional servicing, you can maximize your unit's lifespan.

If your portable AC isn't cooling, it might have a refrigerant leak or a circuit malfunction that's preventing it from working properly. It's best to contact a local air conditioner contractor to inspect and repair the unit. If your AC is older and repairs don't fix the issue, replacing it might be the most effective solution.

Removing a wall-mounted AC costs $55 to $75. Completing the removal yourself at the end of each summer season, being sure to do so according to proper guidelines, keeps you within this cost range. Should you require professional assistance for removal and disposal, if you can't move the unit yourself, expect an added fee of $25 to $50 to the overall cost.
