"Phil and his team did a great job and had great suggestions to how to accomplish what I was looking to do. They took all my downspouts below ground, combined them together including my sump pump and installed pop up emitters. Overall, it is a much better solution than the previous plastic flex pipes that discharged directly on my lawn. Also regraded a few poor drainage areas of the yard. I thought the pricing was reasonable and would hire them again."

"They covered our entire 1/2 acre property which a few years back was the runner-up in the Baltimore Sun's best gardens review. Edged and cleared out all of our beds, spread 10 yards of mulch, and rebuilt a 70 yard long french drain. Our neighbors commented "It's looks like something you see in a magazine." We agree! Amazing team -- so polite, attention to detail, and hard working. Love these guys!"

"I have a horrible hill on the front of my property. He cuts it every week without fail! There’s nothing I dread doing more . He has done tree work for myself and my neighbor. He has never missed a week or an appointment! We love his work and knowledge. Finally his work ethic is amazing!! I would highly recommend him to anyone. And he always wears a great big smile !!!??"

"Our yard was in sad shape. Lawn Wrangler applied the first treatment and our lawn began to green right up. The second treatment was just applied. We like the results so much that we have purchased the complete season of treatments."

"First time using Sage Landscape to perform a core aeration service for my lawn. After providing estimated square footage, they promptly provided a quote for their service and scheduled a day convenient for my schedule. They were highly responsive on all subsequent calls and email exchanges. Their crew arrived on time, were very professional and the work was thorough. I asked for more intense aeration in those areas undergoing full lawn restoration and reseeding, which they gladly performed. I will definitely use their services in the future. <br /> <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Lutherville Timonium, MD

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
