"Frank was very responsive via the Angie's list text message service. When he came out for the estimate he seemed knowledgeable and provided an inexpensive quote. He was a little late on the morning of the job, but not to the point where it was a big issue. The wall was taken down pretty quick and Frank told me he would match the new pieces of wood with the current wall trim. The finish on the new wood is not even close to the trim that surrounds it. He also used a satin polyurethane finish instead of a glossy finish. In the short time since the job was done, the wood finish is almost chalky and scratches and marks are everywhere, which was unexpected. In addition there were several drops of finish that wound up on my carpet. Frank had to come out a second time to add more nails to one of the pieces of wood. I think for the price I paid I received adequate work, but I don't think I would go with this business again."

"It went fine. I got a quote from them but we ended up not going with them. They came out to look at my property and then the quote probably came two weeks after that. Their quote was just too high and I got quotes that were less than that. They were professional. There were a couple of things that I was not too happy with. For example, Darcy Bean sent a plumber out to my house and I was unaware that he was going to be sending a plumber to my house and the plumber contacted me early that morning and said that he needed to come over that very day within the next hour and I told him that that was not going to work for me and that I would have appreciated him calling at least 24 hours in advance. I did not know who the plumber was but he was not the most perceptive to me telling him that he could not come out that day. In general, Darcy was professional but he did state that he was going to come out to give me the quote on a Monday and then he ended up not doing that. I kept having to ask him if he was coming that Monday because he had never set a time and then he finally got back to me that Monday morning and said that he could not come that day and that he would have to come the following day. I would probably not consider getting a quote from them in the future just because I think that most of their quotes would probably be pretty high."

"Whenever you tear into an older home (37 year old house) you are never quite sure what you will find. Plus, as the project took shape and we were no longer looking a a drawing, we changed our mind about a couple small things. The MJ crew was great to work with about making changes to ensure we were happy with the finished project. Our home did not have the proper plumbing for the bathroom (instead of under the floor, the sewage lines ran out the wall to the septic tank) so half of our project cost was for tearing up the concrete floor and installing plumbing that should have been installed when the house was built. The project took a little longer than anticipated but Jeb and his crew saw that by the end of the first week we were able to move the washer & dryer back so we could do some laundry without having to run to the laundrymat. Thankfully, a friend had an appliance dolly he could loan us for the 3 week duration which made it easy to move the washer and dryer in and out when workers were coming and needed to be in that area."

"Overall my impressions are mixed. I had them come to my house for two small jobs. They did a great job painting the trim around the door but it seemed to take longer than necessary (and billed by the hour). When repairing the ceiling, the man doing the work was dissatisfied with his initial job and came back two days later to redo the job. I was glad to see such pride in his work, but again, they were billing hourly and the job ended up costing just under double the initial estimate. I understand that estimates are just that, but all in all they were a little more expensive than I anticipated and were very casual. <br />"

"Was on time and very knowledgable. I had a ton of questions and he took the time to answer them all. We will be using them for our repairs once we get our check we have been waiting for."

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in Lynn-center, IL

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
