"Denis and Bert did an excellent job on removing at least least three dozen bricks from an arch that had shifted and the center bricks had slipped down. A plywood support was built, scaffolding erected, the supporting column leveled, and the bricks relayed, after cleaning the mortar off of each one. Denis even embedded a metal strap into the mortar layer between the bricks. Scaffold construction was essential and nicely done. We are quite pleased with the result."

"Fast workers - not as detail-oriented as we needed for our hardwood floors and kitchen trim We hired Northwest Builders & Renovation to demolish a wall between two rooms, paint our LR, DR, kitchen, and a hallway. We also had them patch a section of wet lath & plaster, replace some baseboards, and hang a chandelier. (About $15k) They finished the majority of the work in 4 days - very fast! They were much less expensive, too, and we learned why later. They wanted to use laminate to finish (as the contract said) our hardwood floor patch from where the wall was. We have almost 100-year-old oak hardwood floors. When they said labor and materials are include in the bid, we should have asked which materials they planned to use. To finish a hardwood floor to them meant using laminate or engineered hardwood flooring, not real wood for hardwood flooring, AND to patch it in (leaving a line), not to weave it in as we wanted to blend it. Read between the lines to know the bid."

"Very Professional operation. They were on time and completed the work as they said they would. As expected, a fireplace and chimney removal is a messy and labor intensive process. I think they said what they hauled away was about eight thousand pounds. Cost about $2000.00. I had bids as low as $1500 and as high as $5000.00. Only took one day and they cleaned up afterward."

"Step up is fantastic. Our driveway was cracked and needed to be replaced. They provided a reasonable quote, clearly comunicated the process and options, showed up on time and completed the project in a timely manner. They also worked around our availability and the weather. When we replace our concrete steps we will use them again for the project."

"If it's possible to be an easy-going, artistic perfectionist with an eye for the practical (shelves in a shower that tip a tiny bit for water runoff), Chad is your man. I cannot say enough about how he checked with us along the way and offered ideas that turned our remodeled bath from "well-done" to gorgeous. He even pointed out a few things that our contractor (and designer) did not. One important "educational moment" was to point out how intersecting bands of penny tiles may look different than what we may be expecting. He even did a "mock up" of the cream penny tiles with two different grout backgrounds to show how nice it would look with a darker grout. AND we went a different direction with our decorative accent because of his wisdom. We like the finished look better than the original design. With Chad's experience and careful consideration for a terrific outcome, he can help you get perfect results.  For any tile job in the future, he will be the only one I choose. <br />"

"We are very pleased with our deck and would hire Scott again. The pros of working with him: 1. He takes the time to listen and understand your project well. We did not have all the details solidified concerning our deck and he was very patient in explaining our options. He came out several times in the planning/estimating process to go over new ideas and changes in direction. 2. He is committed to delivering a quality project. After building the upper level of the deck he suggested we rethink the location of our stairs to better join the upper and lower level of our deck and make for a more seamless transition between the two areas. This suggestion not only increased the usability of our deck, but saved us money and lawn space as well. 3. His price is fair. We had 4 companies provide estimates on our deck and his price, while not the lowest, was certainly within a reasonable range. His estimate was very clear and detailed. To give a complete picture, there were a few minor challenges. 1. Our project started a little late, ran a few days late and the duration of the project lasted longer than needed. They usually only worked on our deck a few days a week. 2. There were a couple of issues that arose during the project that I feel should have been either anticipated or avoided. One being the bottom step of our deck, where it meets the lawn, is halfway under ground due to the ground being sloped. Only after the steps were built were we told that we would need to excavate our lawn and have a retaining wall built so that the whole step is above ground and would not rot. This is something that seems like could have been anticipated and communicated beforehand. We found a workaround that we are happy with so in the end it ended up not being a major deal. Overall, very pleased with our deck. It looks beautiful and it is well built. We recently had a contractor out to install a sliding door who also builds decks, and he commented on how well built the deck was. In conclusion, I would hire Scott again and am happy with our deck."

"When you work with CD Paver Management, it is clear from the onset that you're getting the full package. Cary is enthusiastic about his work, and thorough in his preparation: presenting hand drawn designs for our project, a detailed walk through of paver product options, and rapid turnaround to start work. Once our project was underway, the CD Paver team worked quickly and professionally, through rain or shine. They were happy to review day-by-day progress of their work, and Cary responded quickly to questions or even design change ideas day and night. Cary's commitment to quality didn't stop when his crew was finished. He personally came out to replace a damaged paver, and walk us through the maintenance of our new patio so we can enjoy it for many years to come. If you want an expertly installed patio, excellent service, and great communication, you won't go wrong working with CD Paver Management."

FAQs for brick or stone siding: install or completely replace projects in Mercer Island, WA

Brick siding offers numerous advantages, including high durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, requiring minimal maintenance and lasting for generations. It provides natural insulation, enhancing energy efficiency by regulating indoor temperatures year-round. Brick is fire-resistant, improving home safety, and reduces external noise for a quieter indoor environment. Its timeless aesthetic appeal boosts curb appeal and can increase your home's resale value.

Yes, you can add brick to an existing house. One option is to remove the current siding and install full brick masonry, which involves laying traditional bricks with mortar for a solid brick exterior. Alternatively, you can opt for brick veneer siding, a thinner layer of real or manufactured brick applied over the existing structure. Brick veneer is typically more affordable and easier to install while still providing the aesthetic benefits of brick. Both methods can enhance your home's appearance and value.

Yes, installing brick siding often provides a significant return on investment. With an average ROI of around 77%, and some returns exceeding 80%, brick siding enhances curb appeal, energy efficiency, and longevity, making your home more attractive to potential buyers and potentially increasing resale value.

Brick siding is known for its exceptional longevity, often lasting over 100 years when properly maintained. Regular maintenance, like repointing mortar joints, ensures its durability over time. Brick veneer, while thinner than full brick masonry, is durable and can last up to 50 years or more with proper care. Both options offer long-lasting protection and value for your home.

When choosing brick siding, consider your budget, as costs can vary depending on brick type and installation method. Also, consider your desired aesthetic; different bricks offer various colors, textures, and styles to complement your home's architecture. Installation time and complexity are factors, with options like brick veneer being quicker and less labor-intensive than full brick masonry. Additionally, assess the maintenance requirements and durability to select the best option for your long-term needs.

Alternatives to brick siding include vinyl siding, which is cost-effective and low-maintenance and offers a variety of colors and styles. Wood siding provides a natural, classic look but requires more upkeep to prevent weather damage. Fiber cement siding is durable and can mimic the appearance of wood or masonry without the high maintenance. Each alternative has its own advantages, so consider factors like budget, aesthetics, and maintenance when making your choice.
