"We had a little issue - did not ask a lot of questions or do a visual inspection before snaking our shower drain - turns out we should not have done that due to this drum trap we had. Long story short ending up breaking a pipe - but it was all so old we needed to get it replaced anyway. I had to fight for what I thought was right, but at the end of the day they took care of the price and the situation. Overall this company is probably too expensive for their quality of services, but they were very kind and worked hard to fix this situation."

"When the steam vent on one of my radiators blew off, spewing steam into <br /> the room, I called the oil/gas company that had just installed a new <br /> gas boiler. A man came out that day, said the pressure was fine. He <br /> replaced the steam vent but it wouldn't screw in tight because the <br /> female threads in the radiator were stripped. He said my only option was <br /> to replace the whole radiator (hundreds of $$). That visit cost $52 for the new steam vent and $158 for labor. I called Jim <br /> Roccapriore the next day. He got right back to me and squeezed in a stop the next day before leaving for vacation. He was able to retool the stripped threads so a new radiator was not necessary. He tested the steam vents on all the other radiators and replaced the 4 that were not functioning correctly ($36 each), checked the basement heating system and replaced 2 other vents for $46 (removing the old ones was difficult but he kept at it). He also adjusted the boiler pressure which greatly reduced the clanging noise in the pipes. Before he left, he explained how the whole system works and how to adjust the amount of heat from each radiator using a dial on the new steam vents instead of the main valves which he said would leak if turned on and off, disturbing the packing. The labor cost for 2 hours was $190. <br /> Jim might cost you more initially, but only because he is proactive, fixing things before they become an emergency, and because he is thorough. For me, getting repairs done right the 1st time and preventive maintenance is well worth it. In the 20 years that I used the other company no one ever checked the radiator vents (something Jim said he considers a routine part of any radiator heating system job). <br />"

"It went very well. I sent pictures at their request and Mike was able to tell me that they couldn’t retro fit a new part for such an old laundry tub. He suggested a couple of options and we came up with a good solution. When Greg came to switch out the tub, he noticed some serious problems with our waste pipe. We agreed that the pipe should be replaced. We were grateful that he spotted the problems before they became an emergency."

"The job could not have gone better! Petey and his assistant went above and beyond the scope of work, carting the old sink away instead of leaving it for this old lady to deal with; also moving the heavy cooktop to a safer location than I was going to have it. He arrived ready to work; got right to it (both times) and was very professional. He was also thoughtful and considerate. I thought the job to reconnect and instal everything was going to take much longer but he had it done in less than 40 minutes- start to finish- which included checking to make sure the cooktop worked, the gas was connected properly with no leaks, the water ran well with no leaks, and that I was pleased with the job. I was missing a sink plug and he provided one right on the spot. HE COMES PREPARED!!! I will most certainly use him again for any plumbing needs for the property. The cost I quote below is what I paid for both visits combined ( the disconnect and the reconnect/instal)."

"We were very pleased with Nutmeg.  They did not charge anything because they tried to fix it in September, so this one was free of charge.  They installed a new gas boiler for us and when the heat would not come on a year later they did not know the reason. They replaced a part and thought it could have been an air bubble. They were good about trying to track the problem down."

"Excellent Job A-Team!!! Super fast and Covid Safety observed! We had a major mainline pipe emergency and they came within an hour or us calling (on a Saturday night) and started working on our problem. Came back the next morning at 8:30 am (on a weekend) and saved the day!!! They replaced our pipe section, left the basement clean as a whistle and prevented us from a major pipe burst. All of this and they were also reasonably priced. I highly recommend the A-Team and will be using them in the future. It's so rare to find this type of excellent service, honesty and professionalism and in break-neck timing! Thank you A-Team (Manny)!!!!!"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Meriden, CT

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
