"From the initial proposal and questions with Kevin to the installation with Mike and Milt, the professionalism and knowledge sharing was remarkable. To have the owner, Kevin, involved was a key influence in decision, as was our neighbors high positive regard for Ryan & Co. The installation was efficient. Mike and Milt were so organized and kept things neat and clean. They paid attention to detail and fixed the ancillary to the main system where needed. High quality all around. The system is in and can’t wait to see how it works, especially through the tricky up and down temps of the fall season. Farewell to the 35 yr old system."

"I called All Weather to give me a quote for replacing my gas boiler. They set up a time for their salesperson to come over and give me a quote. The appointment was only a few days later and a man named Joe showed up on time. He spent some time with me, I told him I was looking for a new boiler and a new hot water heater, but I wanted to see what options I have (since I was debating going to a tankless water heater). He told me going indirect hot water tank is the best option and they always use this brand that's the "best one out there". Even though he may have been right, he didn't tend to my questions or concerns very well. I felt like he was getting annoyed that I had questions and eventually I just let him run the show just to get him out of my house faster. Especially when he gave me a quote of $8600, it was much higher than I was anticipating. One thing I really didn't like was when he said I'd have to get a permit since I live in an incorporated village, which would be an extra $500, meanwhile I already had another plumber tell me a permits only $200. So I went with another company. So even though I can't rate All Weather on their work quality, I didn't get a good feeling from their salesperson."

"I waited so long to submit this review because I wanted to see if we really were going to save any money. Our summer electric bills have dropped to a third of what they were last year. We may never fully recover the full replacement cost but getting a PECO bill for $175.00 versus $576.00 (August) is great and that is a positive for the enviornment! <br /> I no longerhave all the specs on the old oil burner but with the new system (3 zones vs. 2) we are using 50% less fuel oil. I can't track the savings due to warmer temperatures but the new unit runs a lot less than the old Columbia. <br /> Petro is a class company. Very professional. Full explanation of every step and really good execution!!! <br /> <br />"

FAQs for swamp cooler installation and replacement projects in Mount Vernon, NY

Swamp coolers are quite energy-efficient, using only 15% to 35% of the electricity that traditional central air conditioning units consume. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills. However, keep in mind that swamp coolers require water to operate and may not cool your home as effectively in extremely hot or humid conditions. When considering overall efficiency, it is essential to weigh both electricity and water usage, as well as the cooling needs specific to your local climate.

Evaporative coolers only work in dry climates because they cool by moistening the air. If the air is already moist, this will have little to no cooling effect. Central AC is a better choice if you live in a humid climate, such as the Midwest, eastern, or western coastal regions.

To install a swamp cooler on a roof, a local HVAC specialist will first find and cut a spot free of wiring and obstructions. They’ll then install metal bracing, legs, brackets, the ceiling duct register, ductwork, power, and thermostat wires. Once installed, they’ll seal all openings, attach duct connections, and install a thermostat. Before leaving, they’ll run cool water piping to the unit and inspect all the connections.

The cost to repair your swamp cooler ranges from $50 to $600, depending on the issue, whether new parts are needed, and the chosen repair service. Depending on the type of pad your system uses, you will need to change out the pads every one to three years for proper operation. When budgeting for the cost to repair a window unit, expect to pay around $230.

The U.S. Department of Energy states that swamp coolers can cool a single room by five to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. However, this largely depends on the size and installation method of the evaporative cooler. You can only achieve these results in a dry climate, such as the American South, as it’s easier to cool rooms in humid environments with central air.

Swamp cooler water usage varies depending on the size of the unit. Smaller evaporative units may use one gallon per hour, while much larger units could use up to 15 gallons of water per hour. Most homeowners can expect their unit to use between seven and 10 gallons of water per hour of usage.
