"Robert did an excellent job.  He spent a lot of time looking for bricks that would be a close match to what we have because the original bricks are not manufactured anymore.  He spent about 3 days to complete the job and our steps look perfect now.  One thing I really appreciated is he took the time to clean out all the old mortar completely.  He cleaned up thoroughly when he was finished.  We are very happy with the work he did and will definitely use him again if we need bricks repaired again. <br />"

"Roger and his team showed up promptly as agreed set up scaffolding and fixed the wall.   Important note.  our house was built in the 1890s and the mortar joints are very thin and tinted red.  The repair matches the original work! They came the next day  cleaned up and took down the scaffolding.  The yard was cleaner than when they started! <br />"

"I highly recommend Lenâ s company Trilite. The process of replacing my brick with stone veneer went so smoothly. Since Trilite was the manufacturer and the installer in my project, I was able to choose from a myriad of stone and colors. The quality and workmanship of the masons was above and beyond what I expected. The stone is beautiful and it was all done in a timely manner and at a fair price. For stone veneer this is the place!!"

"Craftsmen recently replaced the roof of my 1928 home in St. Paul. I highly recommend this company. I was very pleased with the quality of their work. My roof is very complicated with 4 dormers and flat roofs at each end of the house. The decking had to be replaced because of dry rot, which required lots of measuring and cutting - very labor intensives. All the debris was cleaned up carefully during and after the job was completed. The workers were respectful of my property, and existing Leaf Guard gutters. I particularly appreciated Ellie, the Program Manager, who kept me informed every step of the way, from when the dumpster and supplies would be delivered, when the crew would arrive (or not), almost on a day to day basis. Craftsmen provided great customer service, competent and high quality work. I would certainly hire this company again. And the roof looks great!"

"We had significant wall damage that needed repair throughout our home. I had attempted to repair myself, but the job was too large for one person to do. I hired United Wall Systems to do the work. They seemed to be very detail oriented and perfectionists, which is what I needed. They spent 5 days in my home doing these repairs. They had lights to help them in making sure the walls were sanded flush. After the first day or two we found that some areas were being missed, which were quickly addressed. Upon the final inspection, in regular afternoon daylight, there were some small imperfections, but they were very minor. As we went to paint, we noticed that there were more than a few imperfections. My wife and I had to take the next week to fix them to our satisfaction before finally painting the entire house. We wished we had kept our $5500 and just spent the two weeks doing it ourselves. I had hoped that John was more active in the project. I also want to mention that this was in the very beginning of the MN shelter in place order. John kept telling us that he couldn't work due to the order which delayed this project about 3 weeks. The construction trades were considered essential, but John kept telling me they weren't. I had other contractors in the house (which was unoccupied) who said the order allowed them to work. While I don't want anyone sick, I feel like he might have been purposely delaying my project for other reasons. Keep in mind the home was empty at the time and he said he was contacting the state for a determination on whether he could work or not. It was odd to me. The grade given is about quality of work rather than the delay of the project"

"Mike did a beautiful job matching and replacing my leaning chimney to the roofline. The 100 yr old brick doesn't exist anymore and what he found to come close worked out perfectly. He's very honest ,detailed and really listened to me. He took excellent care to get things done right. Very tidy and even saved my beloved blueberry bush from peril ."

"Redstone provided an estimate for our 2nd floor addition project.  Bob met me promptly after contacting him.  He was both courteous and professional.  He completed an initial assessment and gave a rough estimate.  After following up, we decided to go ahead and have subcontractors in to get a firm estimate and "guaranteed maximum price".  His subs arrived and were all very professional.  There was healthy discussion and a creative process in determining the optimal way to do this project between he and the subs of which I was a participant.  They truly made an effort to discern what it was we wanted for the renovation and what was the optimal way to do this.  Throughout the process, Bob told us that his method was to assume we were going to do everything high end and bring it back if budget did not allow so that there would be no surprises at the end of it.  While I appreciate that aspect, the estimate then came in much higher than we were comfortable with.  While I do not doubt they would do a good job with the project, I felt like the "guaranteed maximum price" was way over what we wanted, and after getting our estimate it was  unclear what the actual cost of doing what we were going to do was - except that it was not going to go over a certain amount (which was way higher than our maximum budget).  I would have rather had a frank discussion of what could be accomplished within our budgetary framework that would have given us a better indication of whether we moved ahead with them. Overall, I appreciated their help with this project and would consider using them for future projects. <br />"

"Scott's crew has further enhanced the patio they built.  Our wood deck had to be removed to build the stone patio which left unfinished walls.  Scott suggested stone veneer and once again created a fabulous look.  The stone on the walls really compliments the patio.  We are so happy with the entire project! <br />"

FAQs for brick or stone siding: install or completely replace projects in Newport, MN

Brick siding offers numerous advantages, including high durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, requiring minimal maintenance and lasting for generations. It provides natural insulation, enhancing energy efficiency by regulating indoor temperatures year-round. Brick is fire-resistant, improving home safety, and reduces external noise for a quieter indoor environment. Its timeless aesthetic appeal boosts curb appeal and can increase your home's resale value.

Yes, you can add brick to an existing house. One option is to remove the current siding and install full brick masonry, which involves laying traditional bricks with mortar for a solid brick exterior. Alternatively, you can opt for brick veneer siding, a thinner layer of real or manufactured brick applied over the existing structure. Brick veneer is typically more affordable and easier to install while still providing the aesthetic benefits of brick. Both methods can enhance your home's appearance and value.

Yes, installing brick siding often provides a significant return on investment. With an average ROI of around 77%, and some returns exceeding 80%, brick siding enhances curb appeal, energy efficiency, and longevity, making your home more attractive to potential buyers and potentially increasing resale value.

Brick siding is known for its exceptional longevity, often lasting over 100 years when properly maintained. Regular maintenance, like repointing mortar joints, ensures its durability over time. Brick veneer, while thinner than full brick masonry, is durable and can last up to 50 years or more with proper care. Both options offer long-lasting protection and value for your home.

When choosing brick siding, consider your budget, as costs can vary depending on brick type and installation method. Also, consider your desired aesthetic; different bricks offer various colors, textures, and styles to complement your home's architecture. Installation time and complexity are factors, with options like brick veneer being quicker and less labor-intensive than full brick masonry. Additionally, assess the maintenance requirements and durability to select the best option for your long-term needs.

Alternatives to brick siding include vinyl siding, which is cost-effective and low-maintenance and offers a variety of colors and styles. Wood siding provides a natural, classic look but requires more upkeep to prevent weather damage. Fiber cement siding is durable and can mimic the appearance of wood or masonry without the high maintenance. Each alternative has its own advantages, so consider factors like budget, aesthetics, and maintenance when making your choice.
