"The estimate and scheduling went great, install seemed OK, until I was told my electric line going to unit had no power. Installer said he'd checked a breaker that was off by turning it on but nothing happened so he turned it back off. I assumed (like an idiot, without confirming for myself) that this was the breaker to my hot tub which is not in use. Called an electrician out next day and paid $175 to be told my breaker was off. Never felt so stupid. Flipped breaker on and since it was evening and I do not live in the house because it's being renovated, set unit on "cool only" mode and left. When I returned next day it was 97 degrees in the house. The high outside was around 70. I called first thing Monday morning and they got someone out by noon to fix it. This gentleman was great- polite and competent. He rewired everything and fixed some other things that had been done wrong. It has worked fine since. So, there was an initial screw up, but they were courteous and quick to repair it. Their customer service has been great. I'd use them again, tho I'd request to not have the same crew that installed this system. My house is old and a bit unusual, so maybe it was just something those guys hadn't run into before."

Small jobs welcome

"Great job and it was a good experience from project quote to finish product. Chris and his staff took time to explain the whole process. There is a lot of coordination involved in getting a gas line installed, the heater unit put in and the inspections completed so the gas can be hooked up and get a heater running. Chris knew I was concerned about the cold weather coming in January and got it done before the arctic (below zero) cold snap hit. In today's world that kind of personal service is rare and much appreciated."

"They came out once to add freon to my very old system. They encouraged me to replace it and I knew it needed it but we decided to wait. A couple months later, they called with a great deal and we decided to go for it. They came out the next day! The guys were efficient and thorough. The new system has been in place for three months now and I am very pleased with their work and my new system."

"We have used Airco for annual maintenance on our home HVAC.  Our upstairs unit has had a coolant leak for a while.  Other servicers wanted to just top up the coolant, which has been getting more expensive with the rising cost of coolant and government regulations.  Airco checked for the source of the leak and determined that it was in the evaporator coil.  Government regulations do not allow replacement of just the coil since it uses R-22 coolant.  Airco sent someone to check our cooling needs, measured the area to be cooled and advised on the size of unit needed.  I asked about getting a larger unit with more heating and cooling capability but they said that it would be a waste of money (although it would have been more money for them).  They also advised on the different units available and credits available for installing a more efficient unit then what we had.  We selected a unit and within a week it was installed and operating.  It working great, and we're even letting it carry some of the load for our older unit which covers the downstairs zone in our home."

"We were first introduced to A-1 Professional via a home warranty company claim many years ago, but quickly realized that this company is a cut above anyone we've worked with in that industry. We now give them ALL of our hvac work, whether under warranty or not. We have had them do everything from simple repairs, to deep refurbs, furnace replacement and at multiple properties. They are extremely honest and their expertise is top notch. We trust them completely and they have never let us down in dozens of service events. Any complaints I have heard about this company generally involve a warranty company. Those complaints should be targeted at the warranty company/companies, not this contractor. Keep in mind that any contractor working through a home warranty company has their hands tied completely as it is generally the warranty company's goal to do the least amount possible to patch/repair a broken system. Yet, I have seen A-1 (time and time again) do the right thing and make the best of a challenging situation. I will continue to use this contractor, regardless of whether I have a warranty claim or it's on my own dime. In case anyone is wondering, I have no affiliation with A-1, other than being a satisfied customer of theirs for roughly 20 years. It's my pleasure to give A-1 Professional Heating and A/C my top recommendation.

FAQs for radiant floor heating system installation projects in Oklahoma City, OK

Heated driveways either heat up with electric coils or from hot water flowing through pipes, coming from your boiler. These electric cables and pipes are generally only a couple of inches under the surface. As they heat, they heat up the thermal mass of the asphalt or concrete, which melts away the snow and ice. They usually run for an extra period after all the snow is melted to dry out the surface and avoid ice accumulation.

Heated driveways will melt off snow at a rate of about two to three inches per hour. The actual rate of melt depends on the temperature you have the heating set at, the type of driveway you have, and the climate you're in. Your driveway will melt much faster in 32 degrees than it will at zero degrees. So expect your results to vary a bit.

Heated driveways may crack if the embedded heating elements are positioned too near the surface or if a system malfunction occurs. This issue arises when the coils or tubes are not installed correctly, resulting in stress on the pavement. Once the heating system is fully corrected, the necessary repair involves sealing the cracks and resurfacing. This process restores strength and ensures lasting durability.

When installed and maintained correctly, a heated driveway lasts between 15 and 20 years, on average. Proper installation using professional standards and regular maintenance of components such as the boiler and wiring guarantees long-lasting performance. Consistent care and timely repairs secure the system's durability, ensuring reliable operation throughout its expected lifespan.

A heated driveway increases home value by enhancing curb appeal and ensuring safety during snowstorms. This reliable system adds a high-value feature that stands out in areas with heavy snow, reducing the need for manual snow removal. Homeowners benefit from improved aesthetics and energy efficiency, which contributes significantly to overall property marketability.
