"Allure Window Treatments provided excellent service throughout this project. They responded to our call right away. We scheduled an in-home consultation on a week night (so my husband could participate). Michael arrived on time and took measurements of three tall windows in our living room. (Our house is old and the windows are not perfectly square, so I wanted to have a professional take the measurements.) He showed us some samples. We then visited their showroom over the weekend (open on Saturdays and Sunday) and consulted with Sigita. We decided to go with roman shades, and she got us an excellent price -- a discount for being an Angie's List member and also a rebate from Hunter Douglas. Naomi called me a couple weeks later when the shades were almost done and scheduled installation. Michael was very responsive to my questions leading up to the day of installation via email. Paul came the day of installation and did an excellent job putting them up, less than 2 hours. Very efficient and he cleaned up afterwards. He also said to call their shop if we had any problems or anything broke -- they would come out to fix it for free as part of the warranty (and $80/service call after 5 years). We are very pleased with the final look of the shades -- our living room looks so much nicer now with proper shades. The shades were more expensive than what I priced out at JCPenney and Blinds to Go, but absolutely worth it given the services we got with it (measurements, installation, repair/replacement if needed) and the fact that we have a lifetime warranty from Hunter Douglas.

"Just OK. After they left we had a lot of flies in the house. We would kill 25-30 a day. They need to find a better way than to just open our house open for such a long tome. They also broke our blinds in one of our bedrooms and did not fix it or even tell us about it. We found out after they were gone."

"Had stormdamage, called Impriano(installed roof 27 yrs ago)for repair.Kevin came, he thought the shingles were discontinued.A couple hrs later he confirmed & recommended contacting insurance to start a claim & advised the sales department to set up appointment.Sales rep Brendan came a few days later & gave estimate to replace the roof. He was informative, not pushy,no long presentation required, but all the necessary info was supplied. The insurance process took time.Although insurance only covered the front, due to age we decided on total replacement.Brendan was extremely helpful, supplying detailed lists of the items necessary. His help brought the reimbursement up to the actual cost of the loss. Our job was big, took 2 days, The crew worked hard to be sure there would be no issues overnight & were back 7 the 2nd day,Saturday.1st thing Monday, gutter crew came to reinstall gutters, couple days later electrician came to secure wiring from the attic fan we removed. Very good experience both"

FAQs for blinds or shades repair projects in Philadelphia, PA

If you're wondering whether repairing your blinds is worth it, consider the quality and age of your blinds. For high-end or custom blinds, repairing them can preserve their quality, functionality, and design, making repair a smart choice. Immediate repairs maintain the original look and performance. However, if your blinds are over six years old, extensively damaged, or of lower quality, replacing them might be more cost-effective, as new blinds offer better efficiency and modern technology. Weigh the repair costs against the benefits of replacement to make the best decision for your situation.

When damage undermines the integrity and appearance of your blinds, replacement becomes the clear option. You should replace your blinds when damage to slats or fabric prevents you from obtaining an exact match, thereby compromising appearance and function. Severe damage increases repair complexity and expense. Replacing blinds not only restores superior performance but also creates an opportunity for aesthetic upgrades and lasting benefits.

You should plan to replace your blinds at least every 10 years, with clear signs of wear, such as discoloration, deterioration, or functional issues, emerging by five years. Regular evaluation of style, quality, and performance supports an informed decision. While minor repairs may temporarily extend usability, a complete replacement secures optimal operation and updated design.

Establish a regular maintenance routine to keep your blinds looking and functioning their best. Clean them regularly with mild, specialized products and follow the manufacturer's recommended usage guidelines. UV-blocking window film can protect against fading and warping from sun exposure. Regular inspections and proactive maintenance will preserve their appearance and performance, extending their overall lifespan.

If you pull the blind string and it does not move, it indicates a malfunction in the mechanism, such as a broken cord, a jammed cord lock, or a stuck component. Inspect the string for breaks and examine the headrail for any obstructions. Replace the defective cord or cord lock as necessary to restore proper operation and maintain functionality.

Yes, you can replace your blind string yourself by using a replacement kit available at home improvement stores. Accurate measurement of the string diameter is essential for a perfect fit. Gather the necessary tools and follow the manufacturer’s instructions rigorously to secure a safe, lasting fix. If the task demands more time than anticipated, hiring a professional is advisable to avoid further damage.
