"They were very responsive and reached out immediately to schedule an appointment that worked for my schedule. Arrived on time and cleaned, serviced, changed filters and showed me how to maintain our system during the year. I will call them again when we need HVAC service or repair."

"Brickhaas Plumbing was extremely helpful and put up with a lot of questions throughout the process of running a new gas service line for my new house. The owner was very patient with me even when paperwork needed resubmitted to the gas company due to mishandling on their end. I would absolutely recommend Brickhaas to friends and family."

"Great service at a good price. We needed a heat pump to replace a very old one but I did not want to spend a ton of money. What is great about S & S is that in addition to offering famous but expensive brands of heat pumps they also have less famous but less expensive ones. We decided to get the less famous brand and saved a lot of money. And the new heat pump is so much better than the old one. It is extremely quiet and totally automatic. Frank and Matt did a great job of installing the unit without creating a lot of noise or a big mess. And there were no surprises or extra expenses to deal with. The final price was exactly what Matt quoted me on the phone. I also liked how Frank (one of the Sâ s in S & S worked on the installation). Iâ m very happy with S & S."

"after meeting with owner and explaining what I wanted, selecting date and time we discussed cost. Then scheduled date and time. The male tech was prompt, polite and had a list of what was suppose to done. When done he checked his list and then asked if I was satisfied. And one step further asked if there was anything else that he could do. I am thoroughly satisfied with this company and the tech that actually did my apartment. The tech worked without a break or music in his ears. clean cut and polite. Thank you"

FAQs for central a/c service or repair projects in Pittsburgh, PA

Coils work to absorb heat into the refrigerant that flows through them, moving heat from one location to another. For air conditioning, the evaporator coil inside the air handler in your home absorbs heat. It then transfers the heat outside to the condenser coil, where it releases it. The opposite process happens for heat pumps. When the coils get dusty and dirty, it reduces how well these components work.

Skip regular cleanings, and dirt, debris, and mineral deposits will blanket your evaporator and condenser coils. When that happens, the coils can’t shed heat efficiently, so the system works harder and your energy bill climbs. Over time, overheating strains the compressor and can trigger a full breakdown—an avoidable repair that often costs far more than a simple annual cleaning.

AC coil cleaning is an investment that pays for itself in the benefits it provides. Dust‑caked coils force your AC to run longer, so you spend more on electricity and rack up extra wear. A quick professional cleaning restores efficiency, trims monthly bills, and eases strain on expensive parts. Over the long haul, that small yearly fee delays pricy repairs and stretches the unit’s lifespan, making coil cleaning one of the smartest HVAC tune‑ups you can schedule.

Watch for higher electric bills, rooms that stay warm no matter how low you set the thermostat, or an AC system that runs nonstop. Extra humidity and frost on the coils are also red flags. Catching these clues early lets you schedule a quick cleaning before the system overworks itself and triggers an expensive breakdown.

Your AC cleaning technician starts by shutting off the power to the unit and removing the faceplate. Compressed air and a vacuum hose blast away loose debris, followed by a coil-safe, no-rinse cleaner that dissolves stubborn grime. After the solution has soaked in, the professional wipes the fins, reassembles the housing, and restores power, leaving the system ready to cool at peak efficiency.
