"Advanced Mechanical Services (AMS) went out of their way to get our new oil tank installed and the old one removed in the winter. We were experiencing issues with our old tank where our oil company could not fill the old tank. AMS worked closely with us to install the new tank quickly. They kept us in the loop and were on time on installation day. The installers were professional, kept us informed and did an excellent job. In addition, they cleaned up after themselves. We also use them for our annual furnace cleaning. They always do a great job and have come out on emergency calls a few times over the past 25 (or more) years. I highly recommend them."

"Juan responded quickly on a Sunday afternoon. He was very knowledgeable and fixed the broken part. Fortunately, Juan had the part in his truck and was able to get my furnace working again. The service was impeccable! However, the weekend rates are expensive the service cost me $699 for installation of a $70 part. The 2-hour service call was $500 ($249 per hour)."

"Excellent service, very fast response to my request for service, picked up laptop, diagnosed issues. Initially thought it was an OS update issue but the hard drive had failed along with other components (including 'CPU). Because other components were involved, a new solid state hard drive was put into a laptop with a working processor - same type CPU as in the failed unit. The laptop was repaired and returned in less than a week. This company picked up and dropped off the laptop (driving from Huntsville, AL (about 60-70 minutes)-- great service in this covid environment. I would recommend this company to my family./friends and will use again."

"The representative came on time and listened carefully to my thoughts of a split ductless system. He suggested full house central air and showed me how it could be done, have ducts i stalled and cost less than a ductless system. His experience of over 20 years as a technician as well gave me a lot of confidence. He made a general proposal and came back in a few days for my convenience and I signed the contract. The duct crew finished in one day and were careful, explained things and left no mess. Then the ac was installed and tested in one day. Again polite, clearly communicated. Once the system started up late spring I am so glad I did this! No more noise from room ac, no shutting doors to keep one room cool. The humidity is normal and makes a huge positive difference. I highly recommend HARP. I switched my heating system to them as well after my experience with the AC i stall. Thank you HARP!"

"Had my gas furnace and whole house air conditioning unit replaced. Took two full days. The installers were proficient and knew what they were doing (especially Rich Fee). They took the time to explain the work and the new system features including new digital thermostats. All in all, I was very pleased with the service and the price."

"Oliver was able to come out to us quickly to assess the job and give a quote. He spent a long time listening to what we were asking for and inspecting the room and underneath the floor to get a good sense of what the job might entail once demolition began. We were worried about the integrity of the floor and in a major hurry to get the bathroom finished before I gave birth in a few weeks, so we were working in a very tight timetable. Oliver was able to answer all of my questions very quickly, offer suggestions for local vendors for materials, and confidently offer price ranges for everything that might come up. His prices were very competitive compared to other local contractors I had been speaking with. I also appreciated his directness and honesty when asking questions. He was never shy to offer his opinion. There were very few surprises once we started the project and Oliver did research and found cost-effective solutions for each one, saving us a great deal of money in the process. He also discovered some very scary electrical hazards behind our previous shower and went through great efforts to show and explain to us how he was addressing it so we didn't have to worry. Throughout the entire remodel, he took great pains to explain what he was doing, and offered to do many other things we didn't even ask for, such as clean and repair our ceiling fan, our ceiling, and completely restore the wood around our skylight. Oliver was very mindful of the rest of the house when working, and never damaged any of the walls or doorframes while entering and exiting the house. He was extremely conscientious of the work space and kept things really tidy between sessions. He also did a great job organizing, preparing for, and arranging for secondary tradesmen to the site (plumbing/tiling). We didn't have to schedule or worry about any of it. The bathroom was finished very quickly and we couldn't be more pleased or confident with the results. An aside: my very young daughter was very curious about what Oliver was doing and often asked him questions -- he always kindly took the time to talk to and humor her while he worked. He even bought her a birthday present when the bathroom was finished! Too kind! (She loved it)."

FAQs for central a/c service or repair projects in Poquonock, CT

Coils work to absorb heat into the refrigerant that flows through them, moving heat from one location to another. For air conditioning, the evaporator coil inside the air handler in your home absorbs heat. It then transfers the heat outside to the condenser coil, where it releases it. The opposite process happens for heat pumps. When the coils get dusty and dirty, it reduces how well these components work.

Skip regular cleanings, and dirt, debris, and mineral deposits will blanket your evaporator and condenser coils. When that happens, the coils can’t shed heat efficiently, so the system works harder and your energy bill climbs. Over time, overheating strains the compressor and can trigger a full breakdown—an avoidable repair that often costs far more than a simple annual cleaning.

AC coil cleaning is an investment that pays for itself in the benefits it provides. Dust‑caked coils force your AC to run longer, so you spend more on electricity and rack up extra wear. A quick professional cleaning restores efficiency, trims monthly bills, and eases strain on expensive parts. Over the long haul, that small yearly fee delays pricy repairs and stretches the unit’s lifespan, making coil cleaning one of the smartest HVAC tune‑ups you can schedule.

Watch for higher electric bills, rooms that stay warm no matter how low you set the thermostat, or an AC system that runs nonstop. Extra humidity and frost on the coils are also red flags. Catching these clues early lets you schedule a quick cleaning before the system overworks itself and triggers an expensive breakdown.

Your AC cleaning technician starts by shutting off the power to the unit and removing the faceplate. Compressed air and a vacuum hose blast away loose debris, followed by a coil-safe, no-rinse cleaner that dissolves stubborn grime. After the solution has soaked in, the professional wipes the fins, reassembles the housing, and restores power, leaving the system ready to cool at peak efficiency.
