"Our CPVC house piping had a lot of water hammer. After turning on the washing machine, I walked out for a moment, and then when I came back in water was dripping from the ceiling exhaust fan onto the washing machine. We have a two story house and they ran the hot water plumbing from the water heater in the garage through the laundry room ceiling. I removed the exhaust fan and could see water dripping from a tee way back beyond reach. The water hammer from the washer likely caused the fitting to start leaking. I turned the house water supply off and sent a message to Simpson plumbing through Angie's list. A lady from Simpson plumbing contacted me right away the next morning. She was courteous, but was having a hard time understanding what the problem was. Maybe I was giving too much information or something, but when the plumbers arrived later that afternoon they didn't understand what was going on. I ran through what happened again and showed them the wet spot on the ceiling. They had to cut an opening in the ceiling and we turned the water on and confirmed the leak. We moved my washing machine out of their way and they cut out the CPVC tee and replaced it with PEX. The piping was brittle so it took him a couple of attempts to get a straight cut which is why I called them to mess with it. After installing the PEX tee, we were leak free and at my request they provided a reference for the drywall repair. He also advised getting some water hammer arrestors installed on the supply lines to the washing machine to stop the water hammer, which I have since done."

"These guys are great. They stayed in touch, were on time, made minimal cuts in the drywall (made sure they were behind the microwave hood area and range. They stayed in touch with city inspectors and coordinated visits. In fact, the inspector signed off on the permit after installation without requiring a second inspection with the appliance hooked up and running, because, he said, I've seen these guys' work before and they are top notch. "I have lived in this house for 25 years, and the only project I truly feared was siding.  I have made LOTS of changes to the property  over time, but always stopped short of siding.  This was a scary project, but I signed-up because of Fine Finish Remodeling's reputation on Angie's list, etc.   Also, the siding REALLY needed to be replaced -- in some areas, it was practically held together by paint.  Other exterior improvements (roof, front door and garage door) were being done by other contractors, during the same time period.

-- Mark Stevens is owner / contractor of Fine Finish Remodeling.  He did an excellent job of communicating and moving this project along, and referring out to others as needed.  The supervisor,  Kevin Dunsworth was great, and the house shows that. 

-- Delays happened, because they do.  The contractor had some issues. The weather was sometimes lousy.  PARR lumber delivered some of the materials to somewhere else, which stopped work for about a week.  Holidays happened. People had illnesses.   Siding work stopped while  the roof was repaired and replaced (2 days).  ETC.   In general, I was impressed to watch the changes take shape.  I believe it all moved along as quickly as it could.

--I was part of the problem too.  Two different garage door companies had volunteered their opinion that I could have one BIG garage door, rather than 2 smaller doors, if I wanted to do that.  It would be no problem, according to them.  I talked to Mark, about this, and he told me what could happen if the garage door men were wrong, and recommended I consult a  structural engineer first.  He gave me a name; I called; and the short version is a huge new beam was needed.  It took 6 men to lift that into place.  The final garage door outcome is perfect. Many thanks to Mark for coordinating the extra work my super-sized garage door required.

--Logistically, the siding was removed and replaced from sides and back of house first, leaving the street appearance somewhat intact until the end.  Hardie Plank siding comes with color, but the trim is just primed, so my family did a lot of painting in our garage, and other locations.  Kevin was kind enough to give warning when there was trim to paint for an inside angle, since that would have been nasty to do after it was installed.  I had one area outside the master bedroom that had always looked strange, for the way the old trim and siding met under the eaves.  I pointed that out, and Kevin fixed it with the new trim and siding. 

--When the house was finished, it was slightly wider than it used to be, sufficiently that the downspouts no longer fit. Mark gave me the names of area gutter companies, and the first one came right out and made new downspouts and cleaned the gutters too for a great price.

--The house exterior is done, and it looks great-- and the street noises are much quieter, and odd drafts are gone.  My scary project turned out to be a good experience with a happy outcome."

"Ethereal Elements provided exceptional, professional and quality work repairing my basement wall leak. Dealing with Q was very easy, he is personable and to the point. Dale, who performed the work knew exactly what he was doing, he was quality oriented from start to finish. The work was completed on 4 October, I held off writing this feedback in hopes we would have a couple of extreme downpours so I could verify the basement would not leak. Q guaranteed the basement would not leak again, or they would come out and fix it. The cost of this job was reasonable and I was able to use the discount coupon. "I had paid for a maintenance deal from Angie's list and scheduled a time for service. In the mean time, one of the door springs {or coils C} broke. The technician explained what he was doing and fixed everything. I'm very happy with the service although I was told when having the springs replaced, they also do a maintenance service that is included. So, I'm pretty sure the Angie's list deal of $89 was used as well as full price of repairs. I feel the cost of the repairs should have been adjusted because the maintenance cost was already included. Overall, The actual service was excellent."
