"I was very impressed with Josh with Serpaco from the moment I reached out for an estimate. He was prompt and responsive when coming out and giving me my estimate. He also was prompt in returning my call to get on the schedule (even responding to me while on his vacation!!). He even remembered when we chatted that I'd be available if he could get me in sooner and called me the next day and made it happen. His workers were also considerate, polite, on time and did a wonderful job. I'd definitely hire Josh and his crew at Serpaco again!"

"We hired Bianco Painting to paint our master bedroom and bath. The walls were in need of some sanding and patching and the tray ceiling had original builder paint and nail pops. We were extremely pleased with the quality of work. It looks like a brand new room! The team was prompt, professional, and hard working. They had the job completed in 2 days and were happy to touch up anything we requested. Pricing was very reasonable and Alex was responsive and easy to communicate with. I will definitely recommend Bianco Painting to my friends and use their services again."

"I had multiple areas of my house that required drywall repair. Six holes in the basement ceiling where we ran new electrical wiring, tape delamination in three rooms, and a ceiling where we had water damage from a plumbing issue. Michael and his team provided the best quote and gave us unparalleled service. They arrived on time and worked very efficiently. I would definitely call them for any additional drywall work!"

"It has gone very smoothly, I worked with Alfred Pickett, (205) 837-1011, who quoted the job, scheduled the job with one of Authentic Restoration's roofing crews. It is Alfred who stood fast that our roof was damaged and likely that our insurance adjuster would approve coverage payments. This occurred on an incredible day when I coincidentally paid a home inspector to inspect a small area on my roof that another "sub" of mine had patched. Alfred was standing nearby and we didn't say a word that Alfred was a roofer. I asked the Home Inspector to check our roof while he was up there - and he came down and told me the roof was not damaged by hail! When the inspector left, Alfred showed me on his "Tablet" the picture he took of our roof and there were many pale charcoal-colored spots in the picture. This was the hail damage we suspected that occurred in April 2017. Our terrific Cincinnati Insurance Co. paid all of our $40,638 roofing/new gutters bill except a $2,500 deductible that we happily paid. Authentic Restoration performed a great job on our home's roof and (don't forget) gutters. I am so big on Restoration that we got my youngest Stepson's home re-roofed due to hail damage also, and happily this home was covered by Cincinnati Insurance also (hail damage). In addition, I've led, so far, two of my neighbors who own luxury homes with hail-damaged roofs to Alfred and they are getting new replacement roofs covered by insurance. Alfred has also made things easy in doing our two jobs and I am very fortunate that we crossed paths because he has saved my wife and I some serious money and made it easy!!"

FAQs for wallcovering or wallpaper removal projects in Raleigh, NC

You can determine your wall type through tactile and visual tests. Start by checking the surface by inserting a thumbtack, feeling the texture, tapping to listen for a hollow sound, and examining cut edges under outlet covers. Drywall feels soft with a hollow sound, while plaster is hard and solid. These checks are especially useful in older homes where plaster is more common.

After removing wallpaper, you can dispose of small amounts in your household trash. However, if you are removing wallpaper from your entire home, you’ll need to contact a waste removal service, rent a dumpster, or arrange a special pick-up with your municipality’s waste service. Wallpaper cannot be recycled, so it is important to keep it separate from the recycling stream to comply with local waste guidelines.

It takes a professional from several hours up to a full day to remove wallpaper from a single room. The removal duration depends on the type of adhesive, the age of the wallpaper, the condition of the wall, and the number of layers present. High ceilings and additional layers increase the time required, as extra care is taken to protect the wall surface while ensuring a complete removal.

Using fabric softener with water is an option for removing wallpaper, but its effectiveness is limited and depends on the type of wallpaper being used. This low-cost method is most effective on modern, less porous wallpaper and may not yield optimal results on vintage or textured varieties. It might also affect wall surface preparation for new coverings if the residue is not completely removed. For stubborn adhesive or textured surfaces, professional solutions are recommended to ensure a thorough removal without damaging the underlying wall.
