"Our old gas furnace died during the series of snowstorms in February. Stephan came out the day after we called, to give us the bad news that the unit was so old, no replacement parts were available so the whole thing would have to be replaced. Not really surprising given the age of the unit. He also showed me where the water heater (of similar vintage) was corroding around the outlet pipe, so was also in need of replacement. Kris came out within a couple of hours to look over the house and recommended a couple of options. We were leaving town so installation was delayed a couple of days; otherwise we could have had everything done within 48hours of the initial call. The crew that showed up to do the installation (sorry I forgot your names) showed up promptly at 8AM, worked throughout the day, and left our basement cleaner than it started out."

"Our 1940's house was in dire need of a complete replacement of the electrical and HVAC. We had knob and tube wiring throughout the house an incredibly small panel a general contractor installed and poorly tied in new wiring to, an old gas furnace that could barely heat the house and would trip the breaker every time, a hot water tank that was nearing 20 years old, poor lighting etc. We quickly realized the work needed was well beyond our capabilities of 30 somethings who watch DIY home repair youtube for fun, so we started asking around for bids. The bidding process itself went extremely well. Bryan and Jim made separate trips out to our house, took an extensive tour and asked a lot of questions. We wanted it all. Recessed ceiling lights, directional lighting, additional outlets in all rooms, CAT6A ran (more on this later), the gas furnace removed and replaced with a new one, and relocated across the basement to consolidate utilities into one area, tankless water heating, AC, ducts removed and replaced for better vent location, and the gas line ran up to the kitchen for a gas stove. We were essentially building a new house. We received the bids and while they were a little higher than some estimates we got from other companies, we felt that they had a better handle on the tasks that needed to be completed and thus that their estimate was far more accurate. Once the bid was accepted, we scheduled a 2 week block of time to get the job done. The electric team, Thomas and Steve, came out first. My biggest concern was that since we lived in the house, we would be without essential utilities while they worked. They quickly put my fears to rest and gave us a plan that would only take down a couple rooms at ta time while they were rewired and tied into the old panel. Once the majority of the wiring was done, they would then swap out the panel, putting our total downtime to only a few hours. A couple days later the HVAC team, Matt, Riley and Ryan, came out to begin work alongside the electric team. They also came up with a plan that would keep us with minimal downtime of essential utilities. The work progressed without much issues for two weeks. The teams worked with us to determine the best placement of every single outlet, vent and light, and were more than happy to make minor changes to the plans. At the end of every day they cleaned up any derbies left. One minor issue that cropped up towards the end was the realization that neither team had made provisions to run a duct for our bathroom fan (the bathroom lacked one at all). By the time we realized this, the HVAC team were wrapping up and had another job scheduled for the next day. A quick email to Bryan and Jim quickly resolved the issue and the vent was installed. In regards to running CAT6A network cable throughout the house, we had made arrangements that we would provide the cable and terminate the ends, and that they only had to run cables through the walls. The team was more than willing to work within this. However poor judgement on our part left them without enough cable to finish the runs. This coupled with other minor delays that all construction encounters delayed the finish by a couple of days. Again, Thomas and Steve went above and beyond and came out on their saturday to finish the job. The finished work is amazing. Cable are routed neatly through the basement to the panel. Each cable is labeled, and the panel is clearly labeled. The new gas heater fills the house with heat in minutes, the AC chills to the bone, and the hot water is endless. Our rooms are well lit. It feels like a new house. One final note; our family is a bit outside the cis het norm. We're a poly triad with two trans women and a cis bi guy. We have trans pride flags all over the house and in our windows, and we're not shy about being *****. No one from Seatown had any issues with this. Pronouns were respected, no awkward questions or stares. Overall I would highly recommend Seatown Electric Heating and Air. We have some additional items we'd like to have get done and will be having them back out."

"I purchased a new Navien NPE-240A2 Tankless Water Heater and had it installed. I'm loving the new water heater. It replaces an old Noritz tankless that died just before this installation. The on-site estimate was what sold me. Ken went through all the details and answered a lot of questions from me. Zachary came out with Austin and performed the installation just like I discussed with Ken. Zachary kept me in the loop throughout the installation to ensure I was in agreement with how it was going. Zachary always had my interest at heart and ensured no corners were cut. The installation is much cleaner, and more correct than the previous tankless company did. Zachary even listened to my concern about the astectics of the exterior exhaust and quickly found an easier and cleaner looking way to address my concern. He also removed an old recirculation pump and replaced a new main house shutoff valve. The entire area was treated respectfully and left cleaner than they found it."

"I'd been wanting to get of our old electric baseboard heaters for a long time, and replace it with something more efficient, and Mark helped my understand the differences between a ductless mini-split system and a ducted heatpump system. Even in our small house, the ducted system was the way to go. Mark and his installers were professional and efficient, and answered all my questions. When the thermostat was acting a little odd, he sent a technician over to calibrate it, free of charge. There was a small issue where I initially got the wrong specs for the electrical, and as a result I had the electrician install unnecessary circuits, but Marc reimbursed me for the cost."

FAQs for swamp cooler installation and replacement projects in Redmond, WA

Swamp coolers are quite energy-efficient, using only 15% to 35% of the electricity that traditional central air conditioning units consume. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills. However, keep in mind that swamp coolers require water to operate and may not cool your home as effectively in extremely hot or humid conditions. When considering overall efficiency, it is essential to weigh both electricity and water usage, as well as the cooling needs specific to your local climate.

Evaporative coolers only work in dry climates because they cool by moistening the air. If the air is already moist, this will have little to no cooling effect. Central AC is a better choice if you live in a humid climate, such as the Midwest, eastern, or western coastal regions.

To install a swamp cooler on a roof, a local HVAC specialist will first find and cut a spot free of wiring and obstructions. They’ll then install metal bracing, legs, brackets, the ceiling duct register, ductwork, power, and thermostat wires. Once installed, they’ll seal all openings, attach duct connections, and install a thermostat. Before leaving, they’ll run cool water piping to the unit and inspect all the connections.

The cost to repair your swamp cooler ranges from $50 to $600, depending on the issue, whether new parts are needed, and the chosen repair service. Depending on the type of pad your system uses, you will need to change out the pads every one to three years for proper operation. When budgeting for the cost to repair a window unit, expect to pay around $230.

The U.S. Department of Energy states that swamp coolers can cool a single room by five to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. However, this largely depends on the size and installation method of the evaporative cooler. You can only achieve these results in a dry climate, such as the American South, as it’s easier to cool rooms in humid environments with central air.

Swamp cooler water usage varies depending on the size of the unit. Smaller evaporative units may use one gallon per hour, while much larger units could use up to 15 gallons of water per hour. Most homeowners can expect their unit to use between seven and 10 gallons of water per hour of usage.
