"I requested quotes from 3 local area plumbing and heating contractors as well as the company selling through Costco. <br /> Rick from Neighborhood Plumbing came to the house, did a thorough review of the current system, as well as my additional requirements for improvements to the system and promptly delivered a quote. (Not on the spot, but within 24 hours). <br /> Their quote also contained some optional features that were quoted separately. They also provided me with the option to select the brand of the furnace and air conditioner along with pros/cons of the options. <br /> Neighborhood's quote was not the lowest, but it provided me with the most flexibility for my situation. I made my final decision about the options I wanted, contacted Rick with the final configuration and a target price. He went to work for me and wrote up a final quote. We met at the local coffee shop where I signed the quote and it was done. <br /> We scheduled the installation for about 10 - 14 days later to match my schedule and to allow delivery time for some of the specialty items I had requested. We knew it would be a two day project. <br /> On day 1, Rich and Brandon arrived on site to remove the old furnace and AC units and install the new furnace and AC units. They also reworked the ducting. <br /> On day 2, Greg and Brandon arrived to replace the dampers, install all the controllers for the new zone system as well as the thermostats and the humidifier.  They ended up finding a bad circuit board on the zone controller and needed order a new one and come back later to finish the job.  (this did not affect the operation of the system) <br /> Rick came back a few days later with the replacement card, finished everything up.  He did a final test of the freon levels in the Air Conditioner and completed the necessary paperwork for warranties and rebates for me. <br /> Every interaction with all 3 of these men was very professional.  They cleaned up everything each day.  They made sure I was happy with the day's progress prior to leaving and communicated very well throughout the project. <br /> I would highly recommend Neighborhood Plumbing and Heating to anyone looking for a fantastic company to work with. <br /> P.S. My first experience with Neighborhood Plumbing was in February when I was house sitting for a neighbor and their furnace went out.  I contact Neighborhood Plumbing, Brandon arrived within an hour and fixed it up. <br /> <br /> <br />"

FAQs for radiant floor heating system installation projects in Rice, MN

In new construction, installing radiant floor heating costs between $19,000 and $48,000. The price depends on factors such as the heating system type, flooring material, and square footage. Since there's no existing flooring or wall to work around, the installation is more straightforward, reducing labor costs and improving project efficiency.

Radiant floor heating warms rooms by circulating heated water beneath the flooring, while baseboard heating supplies warmth through units installed along the lower wall portions. Radiant flooring systems deliver even and consistent heat, whereas baseboard units generate gradients of warmth. Radiant floor heating also reduces heat loss, making your home more energy efficient.

Tile and stone are the best choices for radiant heating because they transfer heat rapidly and efficiently. These materials warm the room quickly, ensuring optimal comfort. While wood, laminate, vinyl, carpet, and rubber are acceptable alternatives, they conduct heat slower and require extra energy to achieve the same temperature levels.

Radiant floor heating heats an entire house only when every room and area is outfitted with the system. Installing radiant heating across all of your living spaces ensures complete and consistent warmth, eliminating cold spots while enhancing energy efficiency. Installing a whole-home system provides even warmth, eliminating reliance on forced-air systems.

In-floor heating systems deliver long-lasting performance, with tubing and coils lasting 20 to 35 years and boilers operating for 15 to 20 years. Routine maintenance and prompt repairs ensure your heating system reaches its maximum lifespan. A properly installed system provides reliable warmth over decades, making it a durable long-term investment in home comfort.

Radiant floor heating prevents mold growth by actively reducing moisture beneath the flooring. It maintains warm surfaces that dry excess water and lower condensation, which minimizes the conditions needed for mold to thrive. This efficient control of humidity results in a healthier environment indoors, ensuring that moisture issues are kept well below harmful levels.
