"We had been considering replacing gas logs in a fireplace in our house. They were very low end and poor quality with absolutely no energy efficiency. As a result, we never used the fireplace.  <br /> We went to the show room at Northwest metalcraft and the staff there were very knowledgeable and helpful in guiding us on our options. They have a broad range samples right in the store, so it was helpful to be able to see the units and options. We were able to have a representative come and measure and quickly provide a quote on the options.  <br /> The removal of the old unit and installation of the new one went smoothly.  <br /> We did have a few hiccups with the unit itself - for example, a rattling noise when the fan was on high and then, a month or two later, some of the finish on the door came off because it had not "cured" properly. In both cases, Scott, who had installed the unit, was very responsive in coming to address the issues, both of which were easily resolved. It is good to know that they stand behind their products and are committed to customer satisfaction. <br /> As far as the unit itself, it was definitely a bit of an investment, but one I wish we had made years ago. We LOVE the gas insert. And, it has definitely saved us money on heating as we use it in the family room, which is the most used room of the house and also the coldest, as the only room situated on a slab and between three doors leading to the outside. We can keep that room cozy without having to turn on (or up) the heat for the rest of the house.  <br /> All in all, I would recommend both gas inserts and Northwest Metalcraft as a place that provides a good selection and commitment customer satisfaction. <br />"

"Although it was a little tough to connect in the beginning (due to summer rush and holiday weekend), once Maria and I connected, things went very smoothly. <br /> She came to my house, measured and provided a quote in a very timely manner.   <br /> I had to go through my HOA, and she was quite helpful. Providing the drawings and contacting J.U.L.I.E. as required by the HOA (and even coming out a second time to get additional details requested by the HOA). <br /> We had set a tentative installation date (pending HOA approval) and were lucky that the HOA approval was received in the nick of time and the weather held out. <br /> The crew showed up on time and worked tirelessly all day to complete the job. When they ran out of bricks, they went back out to buy more.  Maria  was there the entire time overseeing the work.  At one point we had an issue with the level of the patio where the base of the steps and the side of the house were out of sync (huge downward slope).  She noted the issue and provided a sound recommendation which I approved. At the end of the day, they cleaned up the entire area.  They had carefully removed sod, mulch and some of my plants to install the brick patio and when they were done installing, they replaced the sod, mulch and even replanted my flowers.  Impressive!!  Everything washed up (even the handprints on the staircase) and clean.  They were also very careful with the surrounding area.  I live in a townhouse and they used wheel barrels to bring in all the materials.  They were careful not to destroy any of the common area.  This is a huge plus and greatly appreciated.   <br /> Overall, it was a very positive experience and I highly recommend LDP.  I love my new patio - even though it is small, it adds a whole new room for me outdoors.  Wish I could add pictures, it turned out great!!"

"It is absolutely beautiful! The guys who did the work did it all by hand (taking out old concrete, digging foundation for new walkways, cutting and laying stones, etc). They were professional, hard-working, on time every day, cleaned up each day. "The scope started out as replacing the tub, toilet, and tile in my 1920's garden unit condo.  The first challenge was I gave Touchstone a very specific time frame that the work needed to be completed in because my tenant was traveling for work for 8 days and they were working on the only bathroom in the unit.  The Touchstone team led by Jose were able to arrange their schedule to start the work the the day my tenant left. Initially I thought that I had no need to disturb the rest of the building because I have my own dedicated plumbing shutoffs for the bathroom (the condo association has some members that can be difficult when it comes to disruptions to the building from a single owner).  The guys quickly discovered that the cold water shutoff had seized up.  Because Touchstone is so familiar with how touchy condo associations can be, they were able to give me a very specific time frame in the mid-morning that I could tell the association that the water service would be turned off for my wing of the building. Touchstone was able to install a new cold water shutoff within the very narrow time frame that I told the association resulting in no complaints from the association.  Once the old cast-iron claw foot tub was removed, they discovered that the drain line was completely rusted and needed to be replaced.  Jose set realistic expectations with me that replacing the drain line may throw the project off schedule due to the complexity of the job (concrete had to be sledgehammered out  and re poured).  Jose provided pricing for the replacement cold water shutoff and replacement drain line right away for my approval.  The Touchstone team continued to work and somehow got back on schedule.  The project was completed on time and the results were fantastic!   <br /> <br /> I can't say enough about how the Touchstone team's insight on dealing with the challenges of working in a condo made my project go smoothly.  I am very pleased with the quality of their tile work and their pricing was very reasonable even with the unexpected added scope."

"<ul> <li>After we purchased our home in late 2012, we contacted three landscape contractors to discuss ideas for improving the landscaping.  Since we hadn't dealt with any landscape firms previously, we selected three firms from Angie's List and requested a proposal for landscaping improvements.  This included work in the backyard (remove deck, install brick paver patio, install lighting and landscaping, including all new sod), the side of the house (creation of a vegetable garden) yard and the front of the house (remove existing grass/install new sod).  Of the three firms we met with, Rafael from the Diaz Group was the most professional in our interactions.   We discussed how we planned to use the yard and offered ideas that we wanted incorporated in the design/installation.  Rafael offered ideas and recommendations regarding building a patio area using brick pavers while maintaining sufficient grass and plantings in the backyard to maintain an appropriate mix of green space in the yard. Rafael provided his proposal within the timeline he described. The proposal was very detailed and provided specific data points-ranging from the type of dirt that would be provided to specifics on the sod that was being installed.</li> </ul> <p>We began work in late October of 2012-that consisted of removing an existing deck, removing the existing grass and existing landscaping.  Since we were installing a new brick paver patio, we had to obtain permits from our city.  Despite numerous challenges with the bureaucracy of city government that was extremely difficult to deal with, Rafael and his team modified the work plan to ensure the city would provide a final sign-off on the work performed. This included obtaining a civil engineer to review the proposed work plan and then inspecting the outcome to ensure it had been completed.  This is an unexpected cost which neither we or Rafael could anticipate.  We worked out a fair and equitable method of absorbing the additional cost.  The Diaz Group consistently made themselves available for inspections and were extremely responsive to my inquiries as well as inquiries from the city.  Final signoff for all work was finally received in the spring of 2013 so we were recently able to complete the project.<br /> The end product is simply outstanding.  Rafael designed plantings in the backyard to provide visual focal points and chose perennial plants that complimented each other to provide interesting colors throughout the year.  His recommendations on using lighting have proved to be excellent-each day at dusk, the lighting activates and provides a different perspective on the landscaping.  <br /> Since having quality grass is important to me, I've been extremely happy with the quality of the sod, including the dirt used.  Every piece of sod took and is now thriving.  The Diaz Group team has been extremely responsive to requests including making his team available to prepare an area for our vegetable garden so we could plant our vegetables and enjoy them later this year.<br /> We are extremely happy with the quality of work and the professionalism shown by Rafael and the entire Diaz Group.  We enthusiastically recommend that you consider the Diaz Group when considering landscaping design needs.  We are really glad that we were able to find the Diaz Group via Angie's List-this is a shining example of why Angie's List works. </p>"
