"I have a house with circa 1890's brick and mortar that once had seashells in it. David Ricard gave me a fair estimate to fill in mortar where a house brick was party broken by a telecom company and where some mortar fell out from an area a larger masonry company had repointed a few years before. David and his brother showed up on time, did the work in a reasonable amount of time, and cleaned up after. He showed that he understands different kinds of brick and the mortar required. I wish I had known about David before I hired that other company a few years before because the larger company didn't do a particularly good repointing job. I have upcoming mortar work needed on my front walkway and will be calling David for that repair. I would definitely hire him again and recommend him to others."

"I cannot say enough good things about the professionalism and dedication of the entire APEX team assigned to my job. We were having our patio extended and adding a fireplace and sitting wall around much of it. The fireplace was very custom and a real stone veneer applied to fireplace and inside/outside of sitting walls. James, Peter and Juan were very technical in their approach to sizing, leveling and elevation. They worked through some very poor weather conditions to keep a schedule and even drove to West Virginia to pick up some stone supply. The end product was spectacular with top notch workmanship. Anybody considering some stone work cannot go wrong with Apex Masonry LLC."

"After 5 years of self cleaning my stone kitchen floor and not being able to remove all of the dirt and grime buildup, I finally hired Rose Restoration to professional clean my floor. They did an outstanding job. The floor looks new again! The service technician was punctual and worked extremely hard for 6 hours. It was well worth the price and I will have them back in a few years for another spruce up."

"This company did a great job on our roof. From start to finish, we had a good experience with this company. We actually had requested and received a good and detailed estimate last year, summer 2018, from the company founder. I appreciated the fact that they specified quality materials. (We also received estimates from other companies, but these were not as detailed and/or the quality of materials was not as good. Prices were generally in the same ballpark for most of the estimates.) We did not follow through with any of the roofing work last year. This year, we looked into roofing again, and requested an updated estimate from Pence. We found that the company is under new management (but still in the same family as the founder) and their construction crews, who have been with them for a long time, have not changed. Our interaction with the new management, specifically Rob, was very positive. Communication was good, they reviewed last year's estimate and ultimately did not change anything in it. We discussed shingle color options, as there were several options we were considering. Rob brought different full-size shingle samples out to our house a few times (not all the colors were immediately available as samples). We had already had our gutters replaced several years ago, so we kept our reasonably new "old" gutters and downspouts. They did not install new ones, but they did remove and replace ours carefully, and when reinstalling the "old" gutters, they did fix one that was improperly angled by the first gutter installer (not Pence). Ultimately, they completed our roof in about half a day - faster than I anticipated. Rain was forecast for the afternoon, but they must have had all their crew members working on our roof that day. They ended up getting it done that day just in time before the rain came. The new roof held up nicely under the immediate rain test, and it looks just as lovely as it performs. Since the crew left quickly that day due to the rain, Rob came by later to run the magnet over the yard to pickup any nails left on the ground. (We also had siding work done later by this same company, but I have that as a separate review.) All around, I highly recommend this company for roofing. They are honest, responsive, and do quality work. I also appreciate that there was no sales pressure. Rob is a decent, honest, and apparently easy-going person who is very nice to work with."

FAQs for brick or stone siding: install or completely replace projects in Riverdale Park, MD

Brick siding offers numerous advantages, including high durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, requiring minimal maintenance and lasting for generations. It provides natural insulation, enhancing energy efficiency by regulating indoor temperatures year-round. Brick is fire-resistant, improving home safety, and reduces external noise for a quieter indoor environment. Its timeless aesthetic appeal boosts curb appeal and can increase your home's resale value.

Yes, you can add brick to an existing house. One option is to remove the current siding and install full brick masonry, which involves laying traditional bricks with mortar for a solid brick exterior. Alternatively, you can opt for brick veneer siding, a thinner layer of real or manufactured brick applied over the existing structure. Brick veneer is typically more affordable and easier to install while still providing the aesthetic benefits of brick. Both methods can enhance your home's appearance and value.

Yes, installing brick siding often provides a significant return on investment. With an average ROI of around 77%, and some returns exceeding 80%, brick siding enhances curb appeal, energy efficiency, and longevity, making your home more attractive to potential buyers and potentially increasing resale value.

Brick siding is known for its exceptional longevity, often lasting over 100 years when properly maintained. Regular maintenance, like repointing mortar joints, ensures its durability over time. Brick veneer, while thinner than full brick masonry, is durable and can last up to 50 years or more with proper care. Both options offer long-lasting protection and value for your home.

When choosing brick siding, consider your budget, as costs can vary depending on brick type and installation method. Also, consider your desired aesthetic; different bricks offer various colors, textures, and styles to complement your home's architecture. Installation time and complexity are factors, with options like brick veneer being quicker and less labor-intensive than full brick masonry. Additionally, assess the maintenance requirements and durability to select the best option for your long-term needs.

Alternatives to brick siding include vinyl siding, which is cost-effective and low-maintenance and offers a variety of colors and styles. Wood siding provides a natural, classic look but requires more upkeep to prevent weather damage. Fiber cement siding is durable and can mimic the appearance of wood or masonry without the high maintenance. Each alternative has its own advantages, so consider factors like budget, aesthetics, and maintenance when making your choice.
