"Previous owner used non-heat rated PVC piping on the water heater. Entire system was almost a decade old so decided to change out the heater at the same time. After giving the owner a good description of the problem he was able to give me a quote over the phone ($1950 + tax). I decided to let them come out and access the job before agreeing. They arrived on time and after a quick assessment the lead plumber quoted me a higher price but after consulting the owner they agreed to do the job for the original price quoted. Mike and John worked quick and efficiently. They were polite & professional and had the entire job complete and work site cleaned in 3-hours. Note that the Angie's list price of $799 only covers the installation of 50 gallon gas AO Smith hot water tank. Assuming you also do installation of new brass fittings, new flex lines and new expansion tank (which you should probably all do with the new water heater) it will cost an ADDITIONAL approx $500-600 (mostly labor costs). That's a competitive price but still, you should be aware that the original quote is just for the water tank install itself, nothing else. All-in-all they did a good job for a competitive price. A few months after the install, so far, I can say I would recommend them for this type of work."
