"Outstanding! Had multiple issues with an aged HVAC system. We didn't have cooling or heating. HPC Services responded promptly, diagnosed the problems and expertly repaired the issues while explaining exactly what happened and how to maintain the system moving forward. Great coordination and teamwork from their entire team. We would not hesitate to use this company again!"

"Our service technician was David. He arrived earlier than expected and went straight to work. Our new pump was installed in less than one hour. We were pleased with the work. He came after hours 6:30pm and did not charge an exorbitant fee. He was pleasant and very informative when asked questions. If there was a topic he was not familiar with he answer "I'm not sure". I like reliable companies with professional employees. We had another plumber come earlier and wanted to charge us $452 dollars for a 1/2 HP pump that cost on average $242, $200 for accessories for installation (I paid $276 taxes included for pump and accessories), labor charge to go and pick up the pump and to install the pump. His price $1252. I was told that it was considered an emergency so that is why the price was so high. This was the morning two days after the flood. After we got the pump we called several times and no response as of yet, He's off my list completely. I share this illustration so that buyers can make educated decisions about how best to spend their money. I don't assume that the plumber whose charges were 50% higher than anyone else I called on Angies List. I simply say do your homework and know what is considered a fair price. Thank you Jerry's Heating and Plumbing. You do excellent work in a timely fashion!"

"We had a pipe burst early in the evening during one of the severe cold snap and called several plumbers.  We were told it would take anywhere from 1 to 4 days before anyone could get to us.  Constantly Running said it would probably be the next morning, but if they could get here sooner they would.  45 minutes later, one of their plumbers called.  He came out and promptly did the work.  The next week, their dry wall person came out and repaired the ceiling.  They were very prompt, professional, and courteous.  I felt they were very reasonably priced, as well.

"The cost was $1050, they were willing to work with me on the price, which was great. They replaced the old water heater with a new one. About 10 months later that same water heater had a leak and caused water damage to my basement. I called them back out and they told me another part that connected to the water heater needed to be replaced. It cost me $280 to have that part replaced. I don't know much about plumbing or if the second call for service was their fault or not from a bad initial installation. So you be the judge."

"Scheduling the appointment was efficient and smooth. The technician named Ira arrived on time. He helped fixed a leaking toilet, flushed the water heater and checked several toilets and garbage disposal plumbing. He appears knowledgable and explained to us all the details very patiently. It was a great experience.

FAQs for water heater repair or service projects in Scotland, MD

Warning signs include fluctuating water temperatures, a pilot light that repeatedly goes out, unusual noises from the tank, or complete heating failure. You might also detect a rotten egg smell, indicating a potential gas leak, or notice water that never reaches the proper temperature. If your water heater is over eight years old and displaying these symptoms, the gas valve is a likely culprit. Professional inspection is recommended, especially if gas odors are present.

Water heater gas valves are not universally interchangeable. Each valve must match your specific water heater's make, model, and specifications. Important compatibility factors include gas type (natural gas vs. propane), BTU rating, connection types, and physical dimensions. Using an incorrect valve can result in poor performance, premature failure, or dangerous gas leaks. Always consult your water heater's documentation or a professional plumber to identify the appropriate replacement valve for your unit.
