Customers say: Terrific value

"Jeff reached out after I submitted a form on Angi's List. He and his team were so easy to work with, and I'm very happy with the new deck they built for me! The work was completed in two days (included a whole tear down of my old deck!). His team led by Luis was amazing and kind and professional. Very excited to have my new deck! "

"TJ and his gang did an amazing job! We waited a long time to do our front yard and we did a lot of research. The crew, led by Matt, worked so diligently and kept us informed on every step of the process. They arrived early, stayed late, worked harder than anyone would have expected! Their attention to detail was superb. Such a pleasant group to do business with! We are planning on hiring them again for a project this fall and also are hoping to add a fire pit next year. We cannot recommend them highly enough! From the office staff to all of the workers, it was truly a pleasure to do business with. We miss seeing their smiling faces! If you have any work you need done with Landscaping and all that goes along with it, look no further! They truly are awesome!!!!!"

Aspen has been in business since 1997. We help clients who are frustrated because they want a nice outdoor living environment but can't envision it or they have tried to do landscaping themselves but did not get the results they were after. Typically our clients have used another company in the past to find out after spending thousands of dollars that the company was not a good fit. Other clients use us because they want a well-maintained yard but either don't have the time or the desire to do the maintenance themselves. Does any of this sound familiar? If so, please feel free to contact us for a short conversation on how we might be able to help.

"Our HVAC system was ailing and Godby did a fantastic job from top to bottom. They diagnosed that it needed to be replaced (not repaired), were clear about our options in terms of size / SEER, and were generally excellent in terms of customer service. Their price was more than reasonable - actually the lowest bid we received on the job. Install was professional, quick, thoughtful with regards to our family's space and time. The unit works incredibly well, and the follow-up customer service has been excellent as well. Highly recommend Godby."

"We hired Smith & Perry in the fall of last year to replace our small concrete patio with a much larger concrete patio and to build a large custom pergola. This is the second project that we have done with Smith & Perry with the first being a small interior remodeling project in January 2019. While the first project was done well enough for us to want to leverage Smith & Perry again, this most recent project was a very poor experience. There were significant workmanship, supervision and project management issues that ultimately led to the termination of relationship mid-project. Below are additional details of the experience. ------ The first part of the project was the replacement of the concrete patio with a new, larger one. The unique aspects of the patio were that it had a semi-circle on one end, and we wanted the stairs to be paver faced and for a brick border around the outside. Smith & Perry’s concrete subcontractors arrived and removed the existing patio and started framing out the new patio. On the day before the patio was supposed to be poured, we were informed that no one from Smith & Perry was going to be onsite when the concrete was going to be poured. While this was concerning, we assumed the subcontractors were qualified and prepared to do a good job. Unfortunately, that was not the case and the result left us with a nightmare. The day of the pour the subcontractors were clearly unprepared and did not understand what was supposed to be done. They did not bring the necessary gutter pieces to run the gutter under the concrete, did not know what the expected way they were supposed to be finishing the concrete. When the work was done, the quality of the work was horrendous. The semi-circle was uneven, the edge was sloppy around all sides, the broom finish was done when it was still too wet and the concrete itself was visibly miss-sloped in multiple areas. There is also concrete splatter across the back siding of our house. However, the worst part of the work performed was what they did around the stairs. The stairs were poured incorrectly in two dimensions and framed two inches too high which resulted in a massive slope coming from the bottom of the stairs to the patio. In the time since the work was performed, we have had multiple other companies come out to work on our project and many have commented on how it is some of the worst quality concrete work they have seen performed. Smith & Perry did not check in on the work after it was performed and 1.5 weeks later when they did come onsite, they did not acknowledge the issues and dismissed the quality concerns that were raised. The next aspect of the project was the build of the pergola which was done by Smith & Perry themselves. While we did not require our plans be followed specifically, full step by step plans were provided. Smith & Perry opted not to follow them and instead built the pergola in a different way. There were several quality issues with the way the pergola bas built including gaps in areas where boards did not align and within a month the pergola was already starting to sag in the center because of the direction the rafters were run. Outside of the clear quality issues with the work that was performed, the overall feeling we got working with Smith & Perry on this project was that they were apathetic on how our project turned out. During the 3 months that we worked with them on this project, they were only onsite 3-4 times. The majority of the project consisted of subcontractors randomly showing up onsite to do work but did not have any oversight and often not having a full idea of what was expected of them. We often had to spend time trying to explain what was needed because they did not receive enough information from Smith & Perry. Additionally, the work was very poorly project managed. For example, the landscape company was sent out (randomly showed up again) to re-grade and seed the lawn before the irrigation company came back out to move and restore the irrigation. The result was that the trencher of the irrigation company destroyed the work of the landscape company and we were left with a mess of yard. Our relationship with Smith & Perry ultimately came to an end after raising additional concerns with the quality and sloping of the concrete. After raising the concern, we heard nothing back from Smith & Perry for a week and then had another subcontractor randomly show up to the house to do other work (that was dependent on the concrete issue being addressed). At that point we contacted the company and ended the relationship. Since terminating our relationship with Smith & Perry we have had a nightmare 6 months trying to figure out how to fix all the issues were left with. We ultimately had to tear down and rebuild most of the pergola. Additionally, we had to redesign the patio to cover up as many of the mistakes made around the stairs by the concrete company and hire another concrete company to reface the concrete. With all of the additional work that we had no originally planned to do, the overall project is going to cost significantly more than we originally intended and we are still going to have noticeable issues that we can’t fix. To say that we were disappointed and frustrated with this experience would be an understatement and with the quality of work and the level of service we received, we feel this rating is warranted."

FAQs for outdoor kitchen building service projects in Sheridan, IN

Building your own pizza oven can be a cost-effective option if you already possess the necessary firebricks or materials and have the skills to complete the project. When you have the required supplies on hand, you save on material costs and labor fees. However, if you need to source every component, a pre-made kit may not deliver the same savings.

Fire bricks are engineered to withstand the high temperatures generated inside a pizza oven, protecting the structure from cracking or spalling. Standard bricks can fail under intense heat, potentially damaging the oven and creating safety risks. By using true fire-rated bricks, homeowners maintain consistent cooking temperatures, preserve the oven’s structural integrity, and reduce the likelihood of costly repairs. The modest increase in material cost is offset by longer service life and safer operation.

An optimal pizza oven installation positions the opening exactly between 36 and 48 inches above the ground to guarantee clear visibility and safe, comfortable access. This height optimizes heat distribution and ergonomic use. In addition, dome height can vary: shorter domes produce the signature soft, charred crust of Neapolitan pies, whereas taller domes are ideal for generating the robust baking environment required for New York–style pizzas.
